Factoring in price there doesn't seems to be much doubt, for me. Bravo Nikon!

Over $4k (Swaro) for a spotting scope is too much for this guy.

Good luck finding the fixed EPs. Rare items.
I had a Super ED80. The zoom indeed sucked but the 30xw was great though not much eye relief. I also had the 50x but didn't use it much.

I recall the...

Keeping in mind Brendan's location is important.
In Brisbane the price difference between the 8x42 MGH and a Swaro 8x32 SV is about 73%.
In the US the difference is about 250% because the Nikon list...

I'd have bought that 8x42 MHG in a heartbeat, and tried (gone), even though I have one.
Really a great binocular.

You'll owe Dennis a big thank you, Patrick

Oh, it's worse than that. Adding my bad copy into the mix, and Pileatus' good copy, talked of in this thread alone, that's 3 of 8 or 38%.

And... that's if you are willing to give the two "OK"...

I just looked at your link and saw their conclusion about the locks. That, and two bucks will get you a cup of coffee ;)
I have a few more thoughts to add.

I'd like to add a few things to consider about tripods.

Collet type leg and center column clamps are stiffer than cam (lever) clamps.
Collet type clamps also don't catch on things, potentially...

Well my 883 was sent back.
The coarse focus was gritty and unpleasant to use. The fine focus was good.
Though it seemed fine at about 45x and below, the image quality dropped off quickly at 60x.

I...

If I had a need for a 10x42 bin I'd certainly try the 10x42 MHGs. I'm guessing I'd be pleased with them as well.
