I have one called N European Birds from www.natureguides.com, and since I paid it once, have not changed it. it has lovely pictures, just the navigation is not the best. Go for the Collins.

Haha, killdeer. it will be a month or more before I see one. We had a lake freeze quickly and the small group of coots are sitting on the ice with the geese.

Sometimes I end up googling photos of birds, mostly juveniles, that are not in the field guides.

Only recently did I note that you can just scan through user photos in eBird by clicking the bird...
