Thanks all. I looked at the (adult) Hermit but ruled it out due to the black chin. Looking at the juvenile though seems pretty good. Solid tentative. ;)

Warbler (?) in Sierra Nevada

Not 100% sure it's a warbler, but it seems like it. Maybe a juvenile; can't match it up with any regular California species.

Edit - seen last week, August '19, in Plumas-Eureka State Park @ 5500...

Spain - Whimbrels or Curlews?

Southwestern coast, near Barbate. Seems to me these are Whimbrels, as the bill is shorter and has a sharper curve than the Eurasian Curlew pics I've looked at.

Spain - Plover ID

My first thought was Little Ringed Plover, but it looks a lot like a Common Ringed as well, maybe a Kentish. Pretty sure it's one of the three. Playa de la Hierbabuena near Barbate.

Just got back home last weekend. It wasn't strictly a birding trip; we did a week in Madrid - with one day of birding Casa de Campo, and a week in Seville - including birding at Donana and a trip...

Spain - Passerine

At Donana. Assuming thrush or warbler? Immature Stonechat maybe? No idea, really.

Spain - Crested vs. Thekla's Lark

Bottom mandible appears straight, but the resolution isn't great and he's got a bug in his mouth hiding the bill shape a bit. Assuming it's not a Skylark based on the crest size. At Donana.

Spain Bird - Raptors near Despenaperros

Not comfortable making any type of guess other than they're raptors... I think. This was typical of my Spanish raptor experience - high contrast bad weather pics of birds way up in the sky, mocking...

You likely already have gone on your trip, but I agree with Donana. Just took this pic on April 21 at the La Rocina visitor center just outside of El Rocio. Fairly easy to get good viewings - lots of...

Spain Bird - Garden Warbler?

Collins says the GW is featureless and non-descript. That pretty well sums up this bird, although there is a hint of an eyebrow or eye ring. 2nd pic maybe the same bird - snaps are within a minute of...

Spain Bird - Nightingale?

All of the same bird. Taken at the Northern Bald Ibis recovery area at Vejer de la Frontera. It sat there and sang for 5 minutes, I was an idiot for not recording the song.

Spain Birds - Donana Raptor(s)

Pretty sure they're all kites, but I'm not sure if they're all Red Kites or if I got a Black Kite or two. All taken during the same day at The Donana entrance at El Rocio. Some pics are of the same...
