I guess OP bird is similar to your #5 on the pic above. I guess I've to admit it is a Common Teal although definitely with the strangest face pattern I've ever seen. Optical colours can be confusing.

Mountain and Steppe and very similar, and identifying one juvenile on a single photo like this is tricky. No 100% of course, and if you've seen a clear reddish tail, Steppe is even more likely.
