@ Poledark I suspect you live in a fairly low EMR environment, since you clearly live in the countryside. Many parts of the UK are still "underserved" by wireless communications, unlike where I...

In the two years since I began posting on BF, the world has lost a great many bees, insects and birds, among other forms of life. In 2017, we had lost approximately 75% of the world's honeybees, and...

Electromagnetic radiation from cell towers, wi-fi and devices is killing not only the bees but everything else as well. And it is going to get much, much worse with 5G. See my post asking for people...

The insect decline worldwide is very serious, and Buglife, UK has a lot of information about this on their website--the rates of decline and loss of biodiversity is truly shocking. One reason for...

Ecological impact of linking the Danube to the Aegean?

As reported in ekathimerini today (Aug 28, 2017), the Chinese want to link the Danube to the Aegean Sea at the Axios River Delta (one of Greece's important bird areas). The article is at:...

The reason I suggested chiffchaff is that there aren't, as far as I know, any acros that live in/pass through Greece which have black legs and a black bill. So can anybody actually identify this...

It might help to work out what this bird is if you told us where you found it. The background of the photo doesn't look like reeds and I still think it looks more like a chiffchaff than a reed...

Hi, Mick,
Thanks for your reply. Is there any way to contact these people that does not involve Facebook? A telephone number, a different site?
Thanks

Question for you. I live on Samos, not that far away, and we have been seeing a huge decline in bird numbers for the past 2-3 years. Admittedly Lesvos has always been better for birdlife than here,...

Not a reed warbler. Looks like a chiffchaff to me though the eye-stripe is not clearly defined in this photo. Not many warblers have black beak and legs. I'd go with chiffchaff.

To KB57,

You are right, and I didn't cite the article specifically to prove that 4G is causing birds to disappear. But what it does show is that man-made frequencies are disrupting birds' ability to...

Hi, Henning,
Please see my reply to Jos, above. I can certainly change the sentence we are arguing about and take out the words "As a result". In any case I think more birds at Kerkini primarily...

Unfortunately you are the only person on Birdforum to come up with any actual figures, so I haven't got much basis for comparison one way or another. I think I told you I heard from someone...

Hi, Henning,
I don't think it really matters if signal strength is not uniform across an area--I think the point is that birds do not do well in an EMR environment. If I change the sentence you...

Hi, Jos,
Thanks for the info. Not sure what to make of it as much research has been done to show that EMR disrupts migration and causes a great many other problems for birds. This is what I am...

Your paper mentioned that at Lake Kerkini, a reduction of signal strength to 85% made a big difference to birdlife.

To Jos--
I think there are patterns that occur when 4G comes in, and which I do not fully understand. I don't know why, but tits, especially great tits, seem to hang around longer in 4G even...
