Not worked out great for me so far.

It's slow (5fps) and takes twice as long to process images thanks to Nikon's decision not to support this camera with their own software - Capture NX2. Ultimately...

A used D300 /D300s is excellent value, especially if you usually shoot in good light. Plenty of fps and a decent buffer. The big disadvantage is that there's a big dip in quality above ISO800.

Nikon's recent decisions have posed a problem for owners of D300's and D700's who want the fps. Those on a limited budget aren't being encouraged to buy a new Nikon camera.

So D300 owners (high end DX) moving to full frame. The D600, D610, and D750 aren't pro-cameras with small buffer, SD cards (the future maybe though), max shutter speed 1/4000 sec, lower fps, small...

There are hides available for Golden Eagle, Goshawk, Buzzards, etc, but they're not cheap and you'll need to fly out to Finland or Bulgaria. Danny Green's company does this sort of holiday. Getting...

The D750 is a fine camera, packed with many features, and is no doubt excellent for event photography, or video action. It's not one though that's best suited to be mounted on the end of a big 500 or...

To upgrade my D300s the way to go seems to be the D810. Pro build, all magnesium alloy, with the big buttons, dedicated AF button, pro controls. In DX format you'd have 16MP at 6fps (7 fps with...

Be interesting to see what the buffers like, a big weakness in some of Nikons recent cameras. Hopefully nearer to the D810 rather than the D610.

Looks like a re-vamped D610 with a flip screen. It's selling point I guess would be it's video capabilities.

An incredible and very disappointing decision by Nikon if true.

My guess would be 8 fps with autofocus and a buffer as the D810. Metal alloy body and build resembling the D810 rather than the D610. Would love two CF slots but we're probably on for 1 CF and 1 SD....

Problem with the D810 is that with the battery pack for the 7 fps we're talking about 3k, which is twice the price of the D300 and presumably the 7D mk II.
