I personally thought the HD's were brighter! DOF is excellent (a key factor for me). They feel great in the hand, very solid yet well-balanced.
Again just a personal view.

I have tried them all and I am glad the SV works for you, just not for me.

Decision made it's the SLC HD 8X42 for me. It won't be mail order or Ebay though....
