I`ve seen darker Hoaries than this bird, but as Peter mentions, the streaking on the UTCs would be a concern for me to call it absolutely a Hoary.

I lived in London Ontario for years, and Mallard crosses are abundant, especially on the Thames River. I cant say too much about this specific bird, but there are hybrids everywhere there.

Ok, well it could be a female Sharp-shinned. The males are nearly as small as Blue Jays, where as the females could be 1.5 X bigger.

A male Cooper's could be the size of a female Sharp-shinned too....

Comparing it to the Canadas in the pic, it looks good for a young Snow Goose. Nice bird all the same. Note the dark smudged smudged head and neck.

It's been pretty good for the finches this fall. I haven't seen Red Crossbill, Hoary Redpoll, or Pine Grosbeak yet, but I think this is the winter for them!
