Here is a picture of 2 small birds fighting on the ground in Kgalagadi Park, South Africa, in november.
I would say the size of a small sparrow.

Black bird nesting in a dead palm tree trunk, Florida, Everglades NP

Chile, Atacama desert, small bird looking like sandpiper

White goose in Falkland Islands

Here is a group of wild geese seen in the Falkland islands.
