    Hello from Kaliningrad, Russia!

Hello Dmitriy, I recently left an old Nikon spotting scope in Kaliningrad with a friend. It is only a beginners piece of equiptment but maybe I could arrange for you to take it without any payment as I feel happy if it could help you. It does not have a tripod though, so this you would have to...

    Trinovid BA/BN eye-relief/FoV specifications?

I can vouch for the 10-32 BN. For nigh on 20 years they have been stunning, and are still very much that way, even up against bins that should be upgrades.

    Woman attacked by a magpie

When I was a young kid, climbing an ivy laden, church yard tree with a friend of the same age. A very aggresive Mistle Thrush nailed my mate on the top of his head. I remember that the donk sound shook me as I looked up at him and it, and the blood poured down his face. And I have never heard of...

    Falcon, Tajikistan

I think you can judge the tail to be long here, longer than most other than Saker.

Pipit ID - Hatay / Turkey

I have seen a lot of Richard's Pipit around Goa, and if my memory hasn't totally deserted me, the bill for this one looks quite different.

Green Warbler? North Bangalore, India, 31st Jan, 2022

I think I have to revise my memory for Greenish over the last years I was around south India. It seems most probable that what I, and perhaps a few friends took to be one.......were in fact Green. We were all pretty hopeless with voice anyway.

Green Warbler? North Bangalore, India, 31st Jan, 2022

It seems more difficult for me to make an id of many birds using photo's. In the field you often get a better chance to observe fine points like this supercilium line. I wish my old friend Heinz was still alive, he was a resident birder in Goa for around 50 years and his opinion of the pictures...

Green Warbler? North Bangalore, India, 31st Jan, 2022

I thought the 2nd and 3rd pictures show the supercilium passing onto and maybe around the forehead. I can't find any info that says it can be this way for green.

Green Warbler? North Bangalore, India, 31st Jan, 2022

Doesn't it look like the supercilium is too long for Green? Maybe just my laptop.

    Square-tailed Drongo-cuckoo? Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo

I think you have got it. The bill looks better for LRTD.

    Square-tailed Drongo-cuckoo? Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo

It looks a little like Crow-Billed Drongo I have seen in Nepal.....But they do have a shallow fork in the tail.

Some Unidentified Passerines from Rajastan in December.

A real pop here for 4. Quite rich colours and plain breast. Could it be Singing Bushlark.....mmh i wonder.

    Id Help - North Sikkim/India - 8

I agree with all the comments voting for Grey-Crested. A couple of points that are interesting for me to clarify is where the dividing line between W and E Himalaya for the Yuhina taxon's run. I only have my memory and not records, but I think I was still getting Albicollis in Kalimpong /Lava...

    Id Help - North Sikkim/India - 8

Yes of course Grahame. I posted this taxon just as a indicator that some Yuhina do show a white collar. And it is also relevant to mention that many Yuhina I have seen don't show a strong orbital ring. I look at the face colour and underpart colour of the OP and don't see Grey-Crested Tit. Brown...

I was looking at Whiskered Yuhina Andy. I have seen many, but only up to 2500m or so.

What are your favorite birding binoculars at three different price points?

After 20 years I still love my 10-32 BN. I often get a look through various other bins that in theory should be upgrades by now. But like the day I bought my old ones from the UK birdfare, spending a few hours going back and forward along the line of glass set out for test views, I always crept...
