    Canon 15x50 Refurb , is an armor opening supposed to be by the tripod location or is it a crack (defect)?

    I only noticed it when I was taking pictures of mine for a sale ad. Then came back to my senses and decided to keep it! I hope you enjoy the 15x50. It's one of the few binoculars that has stayed, while all the others have been sold!

    I would argue that the split is intentional for two purposes. One to aid in manufacture of the covering piece itself. And two, so that it can be installed on the binocular housing. The seam is visible because the edges are not joined together well.
