    Thanks for info regarding the "red" bird; presumably escaped from someone's home along the south coast or the island itself. As for the pipit; is it a Meadow ? Adult or possible juvenile ? Thanks, Dave.

    Visiting Kirkby Lonsdale next week; assistance with local birding sites please.

    Mono, Barbondale was excellent. Splendid views of pied flys, redstarts, and a pair of cuckoos together in a single hawthorn shrub. Possible spotted fly, but not clear enough view to be certain. Even without the birds, it was a stunning short walk. Very many thanks, Dave.

    Really looking for sites within 30 miles or so of Kirkby Lonsdale area in Cumbria, Yorkshire or North Lancashire; looking for Flycatchers in particular and areas of moorland where I could sit and look for moorland specialities; not up to walking miles any more !!!!
