    SoSo Swarovski Service

Jaymann, Do you know what it takes to have a dust free facility? It's called a white room, and believe me, if a manufacturer was investing in that type of facility, the price of Binos would be multiplied by 2 or 3. Even Leica M Summicron photo lenses costing a premium had some dust in them...

    Binoculars for Trekking in Himalayas

Of course, the risk is lower than taking driving your car too if we follow that type of logic. But I refuse to consider "Baseless Fear-mongering" when ACAP, local wildlife guides and biologists are warning people not to go in the forests at those times, even on trek itineraries. They are...

    Binoculars for Trekking in Himalayas

Hi David, It is recommended in the Mountains too, as you get forest until 3000-3500m. Snow leopards are not really an issue, as they are "shy" and live above 4500m. But at forest level, in altitude, you still have leopards, and believe me to have seen real footage from my zoologist friend...

    Binoculars for Trekking in Himalayas

Time of the day where predators are hunting. 5 Nepalis died eaten by Big cats since the beginning of the year, because they have not respected this simple rule....

    Binoculars for Trekking in Himalayas

I'm used to go to Nepal (started to loose the count of my trips) and was even there last month. The first time I brought Binos with me trekking, it was a 10x50 pair, that I had in my pack the 1st day. I quickly switched to having them around my neck and arm, to spread the weight, and changing...

    Let's talk PORROS!

Nice one John. And Thank you for the link. I had such a massive laugh looking at the "Sellers other items" section, thinking finding other Binos for sale.

    Let's talk PORROS!

I understand that having different sources giving different figures might be frustrating. But honestly, you like them right? How many people among us on this forum are buying Binos JUST because of the transmission figure? Just forget the transmission and enjoy your Binos. A lot of people...

    Let's talk PORROS!

Dennis, You have your opinion about this, that's fine. But before dismissing Gijs' work, perhaps you should educate yourself and take a look at who Gijs really is. Especially in the academic world. If you want to believe Allbino's website more than a scientist from the academic world, why...

    The Inspiration for NL's Shape

Lee, Just the idea of the NL design inspired by a "carried too long baguette" made me laugh :o) It's very well spotted. Don't try to carry a baguette too long under pouring rain either, you might end up with a bow :oD One of the thing my sisters and I hated most when we were kids, was to go...

SLC range to be discontinued by Swarovski!

I'm so glad to learn that I'm not being the only one birding with 15s handheld, thanks for letting me know ;)

SLC range to be discontinued by Swarovski!

Beautiful place indeed! I never went to Poon Hill. Too many people to my liking. I very much prefer the view from the Guesthouse at the top of a hill above Ghandruk (place you surely know). The view from Chomrong (at dawn ;)) is awesome too (demanding to get there, but worth it). My...

Swarovski NL 8x42 - First Impressions

As you say, if people want to spend 3K on a pair binoculars they have not tried, why not? That's what most of us do anyway, when we order online, considering the QC of some brands (with Cherries and Lemons... ). Is it different with what's actually happening with the latest Zeiss 8x32 ? People...

SLC range to be discontinued by Swarovski!

I totally understand you about not wanting to be aware of the instrument... I have been using my 15x56 hand held for 5 years. I did buy the Kohla fix & focus binocular support last month to try to get some additional support in some situations (and it works). When I went to buy my 2nd pair...

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

No pb (if it's allowed). I ordered it through the Orniwelt website: https://orniwelt.de/ausruestung/stative/adapter-fuer-fernglaeser/824/kamera/fernglasstativ-fix-focus?number=08170-00

SLC range to be discontinued by Swarovski!

If I didn't have SLC 15x56, I could have said the same thing. But it depends very much the type of Birding you're doing. I'm actually birding with these Binos. Sure, they are not perfect in a forest, and I miss fast birds often (The slow focus not helping, of course). But nothing beat...

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

I started to use that one recently. The ball under the Binos, depending where you place it under, allows up and down movement. The length of the stick is adjustable, a really great tool.

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

No need of diopter lock really. The diopter has strong "clicks", and won't move (I tried it)

SLC range to be discontinued by Swarovski!

I would find it surprising, unless they replace the whole SLC line by another. SLCs are mainly used by hunters, and I don't think the EL or NL ranges would cut it for hunters. Swarovski can't leave such a hole in their product lines. Looking at the decrease of price of the SLCs in the past...

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

Friday, I was thinking the same. And I really thought that it was a lot of "noise" for probably not much. That was until I tried the 3 NL Saturday afternoon... I actually arrived there thinking quite a lot of negative things about the new NL, and that there was no chance that I could be...

Swarovski NL 8x42 - First Impressions

Goedenavond Jan, To answer you, I haven't noticed any distortion or pincussion. Among other things (that I can't write here), I learned how the Swarovski family is attached to their name and reputation. They take that really seriously, and to me, it was a bit of a surprise. And proves how...

Swarovski NL 8x42 - First Impressions

Thanks to You Canip. Actually, it's your own review, together with Jan and Gijs ones that pushed me to do the 2 hours trip to Thonon this morning. I wanted to bring something useful to this forum (for once :-O)

Swarovski NL 8x42 - First Impressions

Today, I was lucky enough to try the new NL Pure in all the magnifications (8x 10x and 12x), Thanks to the Swarovski Caravan Tour making a stop in Thonon les Bains (French side of the Leman Lake). They parked their van at an amazing point of view, with a mind blowing full view on the Leman...
