That was my instinct. Either that or Reed Warbler. My bird call app said Blackcap but I didn't agree. Thank you for replying Alexander Rach

    Mallorca 2017

Thanks Mike, I would say they were Balearic too having looked in my book back at the hotel. If I'd been quicker, I might have got a record shot of them on my phone! As for the Scop's Owls, will they still be calling at dusk at this time of year? I know of the site near to the Pollensa Park but...

    Mallorca 2017

On more of a reaching holiday this year but still managed to fit a little bit of birding in. Went on a boat trip around the Formentor Peninsula, around to Cala St. Vincente. Had brilliant views of several Eleonora's Falcon at Cala Figuera. Also had 2 Booted Eagle, 4 Osprey and 2 Balearic...

    Mallorca 2017

Hi All, I'm coming over to PP on the 18th of June so I'm wondering what may be around then? We're staying at the Mar Senses and won't have a car. We normally come over at the end of April/beginning of May during migration so not really sure what is around later on. Would really love to find...

Thanks for that James, I will be happy with anything we see to be honest, as most of it will be different to the UK. Happy birding Rach

    Toronto

Hi there, I'm going out to Toronto next week from the UK and hope to have a half day free (possibly a day) to look for some birds. Thinking High Park may be my best bet. Any tips on seeing Belted Kingfisher? Would love to see Hummingbirds too but realise they are difficult. I would appreciate...

    Mallorca 2016

Hello Ratal, It's really easy to get to on the bus. From PP it takes about half an hour depending on the bus driver. I can't remember the exact cost but it was less than €2 one way. This is the link to the timetable http://www.tib.org/portal/en/web/ctm/autobus/linia/352 Have a great time Rach

Hi Malcolm, Think your cricket may be a Locust. Had one of those a few years ago. They are massive!! Not sure what species they are. Rach

    Mallorca 2016

Back home today, missing it already. Will compile my list and look through my photos and put some on here (if they are any good!). Very envious of birders still to go out and those who live there. Maybe I can retire there one day....:flyaway: Rach

    Mallorca 2016

Just had a flock of about 30 Bee-eaters hawking and flying over the field next to the boquer car park. Amazingly close flybys as were were under a tree. Typically didn't have my camera with me.

    Mallorca 2016

Thanks Mike. I've had a look at those photos but that was a full adult and mine wasn't. I'll attach my very bad phone-scoped photo for suggestions but it really isn't great or 100% clear. Thanks, Rach

    Mallorca 2016

Had a trip to the Boquer Valley last night, nothing of any great note as the wind seemed to get up whilst we were there. Spoke to a very nice gentleman from Newcastle, who pointed us in the direction of a few target species which we were very appreciative of (thanks again, if you are on the...
