Is this a Med Gull in the first pic with the Godwits? Looks a fair bit different in the head to the other BH Gulls I saw. Also, in the large flock of waders I can see Black Tailed Godwits, Redshank and the odd Oystercatcher, can anyone spy anything else? My eyes are starting to cross looking at...
Apologies for the bad photos, only had my phone with me. I was thinking Mistle Thrush for these as it seemed a little larger but try as I might I can still never seem to tell the difference when I'm out birding, especially without my glasses!
Richmond Park, brown(ish) bird
Sorry for the terrible photo, it flew out of the long grass and this is all I could get. Thrush sized I think but the tail looks like it disqualifies itself from that - any ideas at all here? Thanks.
I will be visiting Kings Lynn on work this Sunday and will likely be done by 1pm at the latest - given that Im based in London and rarely get to visit Norfolk I was wondering what site in the local area would be best to check out for a few hours of birding?
I dont drive so would have...
Hi all, recently went to NYC for a week and did a bit of birding in the park. This being the second time birding there I knew most of what I saw, but still haven't been able to identify this yet if anyone is able to help?
So I'm heading over to Reykjavic on Monday for five days, and would like to do a bit of birding whilst I'm out there. Can anyone suggest some good, local sites to check out, and what I might see whilst I'm out there? I don't plan on doing too much travelling, though I will likely do some of the...
Was in the States for a month, and saw these that I was unsure of. If anyone could help, it'd be great. These were all taken in March 2011.
Orlando, Florida (sorry for lousy photo!)
Got back from holiday a couple of weeks back, and haven't ID'd all the birds I saw, hopefully someone could help me out? Photos aren't the best, I'm afraid.
After an eternity (seemingly) of having Nyger seed out in the garden, and seeing Goldfinches in the area, two just flew in and had a good snack on the feeder. Hopefully they'll return for some more over the days and weeks. The garden's been quite busy lately, with a Mistle Thrush returning every...
Finally I got out for a proper days birding, and picked a great day to do it, as the weather was lovely. Got the bus from Maldon to Tollesbury, then walked down to Old Hall Marshes.
Pretty soon I swa some year ticks, like Widgeon and Curlew, as well as a Marsh Harrier that flew over. Little...
I've never put one up before, so I was just wondering if it was too late to put up a nest box for this year - is it likely that a bird will take up residence now? Was thinking about dropping down to the garden centre tomorrow and picking one up, but don't want to if it's the wrong time.
I was in Kensington Gardens yesterday, and saw what looked very much like a female Tufted Duck. However, it had a white ring around the base of its beak. Is this some kind a sub-species, the cause of cross-breeding or a totally different bird?
Took this photo at Abberton Reservoir in the mid nineties I'm guessing. Found the photo today in amongst some stuff and curiosity got the better of me - does anyone know what they are hybrids of? (I'm assuming they're hybrids, of course)
I'm going over to the Isle of Wight some time soon time, and I wondered what the chances of seeing any Puffins or other seabirds that might not frequent Essex where I live? I'll be going over on the ferry, and then travelling to Ventnor. Won't have a lot of time to look about, but does anyone...
Apparently there's been a GG Shrike flying about Cuffley in Herts for a month or so now, I was hoping someone could fill me in on where abouts it tends to "hang out"? I'll be coming in by train, so any directions from the rail station in Cuffley would be fantastic.
