Where can I watch geese flying overhead? In England

Sadly Worcester isn't the goosiest part of the country. Pink-footed Goose is the most numerous species in the UK and places along the east coast get huge numbers, especially stop overs like Loch Leven in Fife in mid-autumn. Around the Wash in winter as well as in the Hickling Broad and Holkham...

    Colorado Snake ID

It's a Western Terrestrial Garter Snake, one of four species of Garter Snake in Colorado (and the blandest looking). In terms of dangerously venomous snakes, there are a bunch of rattlesnakes and that's about it, so if it's not one of those, you're golden.

Italian Alps. Over 2000 mts altitude

This is a water Pipit. Having just been birding in the Pyrenees at 2000m+ they are the most common bird at that height and this looks nothing like a snowfinch, alpine accentor or black redstarts which are the other realistic options.

Skua IDable? Off the coast of California, 2023 September.

There is nothing ruling out Pomarine Jaeger (skua) here, and whilst it looks good for SPS, I dont think this is ID'able.

Which Species Will Be the Next to Breed in the UK?

I always wondered what the situation was with RL Buzzard and Gyr and why they were on Schedule 1. Assumed they must have held territory in the 1970s when the northern incursion of species occurred.

Golden Eagle Pair Almeria Spain 27th May 2022

Really interesting. I think they are quite young in terms of eagles, and they may not breed successfully but fab to hear that they are still there, and getting on with things. Thanks for revisiting.

    Paphos this am any ideas?

Blunt-nosed Viper is no doubt a potent snake but I doubt there are that many fatalities per year in Cyprus. They are quite a different looking beast being an ambush predator.

    Kite ID

Absolutely - I wasn't suggesting this was a definitive position, just what's on ebird. Tbh I think this looks fine for Black kite. It is in a posture that emphasizes the tail fork and makes it look longer, and the poor quality makes interpreting the size and definition of the pale panel in the...

    Kite ID

No records of red kite on ebird for the Kiev region and only a single record away from the Western border. Obviously doesn't identify the bird in question but gives justification to the default.
