    Eagle shooter gets big fine

They seem to have a very pragmatic view around here, at least around me, where they adjust the seasons to take into account breeding, migration, local populations, success of local populations, census of numbers etc before deciding how many the hunters are allowed to shoot and when... The...

    Bird books and value

Sadly my father is not in the best of health and he has a big collection of bird books. There aren’t any that are sentimental that I haven’t already got or need. I think most of the books will be going to a charity shop but the question is are any worth anything? Where would I find out?

    Raptor ID (Britain)

Because you already have all the info in the photos - how the bird was moving wingbeats etc are subjective. Whilst they are very important in your observations in the field they wouldn't stand up to scrutiny on here when faced with 'evidence'....

Chiffchaff, Common or Iberian? Pyrenees May 24

It was an interesting call Bits of common, bits of Iberian then bits of the two together.... It was listed as Common/Iberian mixte by a couple of the other locals which presumably means hybrid. I asked Dragnil to get some photos so we could have a look at the structure in the cold light of...

Another great day in the Pyrenees 2024

Great news - I'm a dad again - a quick visit to the Eagle Owl nest area, to check whether anything was around, produced the female so good to go for a short sortie with an english guy scheduled an hour later. We spent about 10 minutes watching the female when a chick popped into view - great...
