OMG!!! I'd have loved to have done a walk like that when I was fitter. Well done and thanks so much for sharing a little of your adventure YS

I had just looked back to see when I photographed them before, which was May. Really can't think I was too early going, as we'd seen both Swallows and House Martins, seemingly just arrived yesterday. Don't know if you've been there, it's near Lintrathen Loch.

I can't remember exactly where we found them, but it was somewhere around this part of the map I think, though may have been a bit closer to Meigle. https://www.streetmap.co.uk/map/idld?X=334735&Y=754081&A=Y&Z=120 And yes, the Hawfinch are in Perthshire.!

Yeah I do .... but they, too, were in Angus not my county! I've had Wood Sandpiper, Garganey, Smew, Great and Little Egrets (the list goes on) there too - as well as Bittern, which is a Scottish rarity. They just won't come to the 5 Lochs,

Great Grey Shrike could be a good one for you to look for through the winter. Saw near the bottom end of the road to Backwater many years ago. They're pretty regular in these parts of Scotland, but it remains the only one I've seen.

Don't think Perthshire get much in the way of rarities. Closest one I've seen is the Great Reed Warbler at Kinnordy... well a few things at Kinnordy really but that's in Angus. Twenty plus years ago I saw a Hoopoe near Glencarse (between Perth and Dundee), so that was in Perthshire LOL

Strangely I'd not thought of looking to see if there was a Perthshire Birding group till now... can't find one; but Birdforum comes up on the Google results. (well it DDGo actually LOL). I don't have a Twitter account, and can't see me ever getting one.

You are building a nice list already laddie. They later we get into the year should bring more too I guess!! Looking forward to hearing what the new nature reserve is like as well. I'm off to look it up now.

That really is a great place by the sounds of it. And how lovely to have it so close too. I guess the Clyde isn't tidal that far inland?

When I saw Allan's post yesterday, I tried to find just where this new hub was. The RSPB didn't make it easy (unless I missed something very obvious!) This was the first Googled result I got yesterday...
