    Alternative NL Pure eyepiece cover?

    It's worth investigating. Thank you

    Alternative NL Pure eyepiece cover?

Thanks guys. I'll get the knife out tonight!

    NL Pure in alternative colors?

Is there a snowball's chance in hell we might see the NL Pure line (8x42 in particular) in alterative colors? Orange, brown, surprise me . . .

    Alternative NL Pure eyepiece cover?

I love, love (love) my 8x42 NL Pure binoculars. So does the rest of my family. That said, this pair now resides semi-permanently on a table next to our viewing window with only the eyepiece cover installed (dust protection) What I'm finding is that a lot of my less-conscience family members...

    Leica USA service?

I need to send in my 7x42 UV HD+ for repair of one eyecup. It wasn't fall that did it, it was the sudden stop. That said, their customer service sent a very responsive e-mail with shipment info. The problem is they are requesting the bill of sale. I'm not sure I can gather it. Does anyone...

Nikon 8x42 EDG, ships from Japan, CAD 2,747.78 - Expensive?

I tend to agree with Mike. As a fan of the Nikon EDG, I'm betting it is NOS (new old stock) as there's no such thing as a "new generation" of this discontinued product line. Case in point . . . I recently (12/21) sent my 7x42 EDG (single hinge) to NikonUSA for service. The floating diopter was...

What Discontinued Binocular Would You Redesign and Bring Back If You Could ?

An alpha 7x or even 6.5x would be fricking fantastic! I can't tell you how many new birders and wildlife observers I have helped empower by cutting their teeth on my old pair of (now discontinued) Meopta 6.5x32mm binoculars. What these folks all had in common was their previous frustration...

NL Pure 8x42 eyepiece lens edge issue. Is this common?

I've always found it better to look through my binoculars rather than look at them . . .

Can a binocular have too big of a FOV?

Anyone know the practical FoV of a pair of human eyeballs? IMO, this should also be the practical limit of any magnified lens system. If the porn industry has taught us anything; total immersion is where it's at.

    New Roger Vine Reviews

New guy alert . . . I have a dumb question, and I will apologize in advance if the joke is on me, but I don't understand why this obviously very knowledgeable reviewer of optics is always shown wearing sunglasses while viewing through binoculars. I'm guessing this might be a bit of...

Nikon EDG 7x42 floating diopter question

Update: Nikon USA confirmed they will attempt a repair of my binoculars, and as long as I state it specifically in writing on the repair form, they will return my exact pair to me regardless of whether or not they can fix my issue.

Nikon EDG 7x42 floating diopter question

Hello from MI, A happy owner of a pair of Nikon EDG 7x42 binoculars here. Mine are the open-bridge design, but I don't know if that's significant in any way. I'm writing because I have found that my pair seem to exhibit some unintentional drift in the diopter position. In other words, I can...

Kowa 884 with TSN-VA3 Unusual question

Thanks again for all the insights, gentlemen. I have a lot think about, and I'm starting to realize I'm not as clever as I thought. Everything I'm pondering has been tried before, and there are good reasons it isn't more commonplace. Decisions, decisions . . .

Kowa 884 with TSN-VA3 Unusual question

Thanks again for all your insight and help. I understand your point on the 77mm Kowas, but if I'm going to spend the money, I want the best. I like the 88mm because I want the Fluorite, and I want the larger exit pupil. With your help finding the Kowa 884's focal length (500mm), I am now able...

Kowa 884 with TSN-VA3 Unusual question

That seems like a great idea. I didn't realize it was so easy to use 1.25" eyepieces. Do you happen to know what specific eyepieces would give me the lower magnification that I'm looking for? In other words, do you happen to know the focal length of the Kowa 884? And I assume the final...

Kowa 884 with TSN-VA3 Unusual question

Hello from Michigan I'm new to this forum, and fairly new to birding. I have caught the fever however, and I'd like to start investing in some better equipment. I'm in the market for a spotting scope. I've narrowed it down to the Kowa 884 (although the Meopta S2 82 HD was a close second). I...

    Hello from Michigan

West Michigan birder over here. I'm hoping to take full advantage of the resources available on this site before dropping my hard-earned money on expensive optics. I'm a sponge, ready to soak up all this knowledge! Cheers!
