    Spot-breasted Wren C-RICA SER 2

This photo is the final upload in my December 2015 or second Costa Rica series. This bird was located on northern Costa Rica at the extreme southern limit of its Central American range. It was very difficult to photograph, as it stayed near the forest floor in a dense tangle of dead fallen...

    Spot-crowned Woodcreeper C-RICA SER 2

Over many trips to the New World tropics, I have always found woodcreepers a challenge to photograph. This one was no different. As soon as I would get the bird in my viewfinder, it would scurry around the other side of the tree trunk or limb where it was foraging. This bird was on the...

This bird is not a "Thrush," despite the fact that the term appears in the bird's name. It is a New World warbler or "wood warbler," as stated in the Photo Details.

This was not a belly shot. It appears to have been shot from a low position because it was shot from a great distance away using telephoto on tripod, so the angle of elevation was very small. I have a bad hand tremor, and must use a tripod for all my shots.

Louisiana Waterthrush Scene C-RICA SER 2

Although this bird looks very much like a thrush, it is really a New World warbler. This bird was feeding on aquatic insects in a rocky fast-flowing stream. After downloading this scene, I'll download a zoomed-in closeup of the bird, itself.

    Chestnut-sided Warbler Female Bathing C-RICA SER 2

On this third trip to Costa Rica, I photographed several bird species bathing (see prior uploads). These photos were taken under difficult circumstances. I stood on a platform at the heavily forested upper rim of a 15-20 m deep gorge with a small fast-flowing stream with quiet pools (where the...
