    you could unscrew the little knob. I always removed those caps on binos that had them.

    FOV and all specs seem to come very close to the originals. the body/housing looks to be the same. the weight savings seems to result from switching from Aluminum to a Magnesium body.

    yes, it's really a Conquest HD 'plus' with some improvements such as a locking diopter, new armor, slightly less bulky, slightly lower weight, new coatings with improved color accuracy, aspheric lenses used to flatten the field a bit. I think that is about it as far as I can tell.

    the new HDX 8x32 has the same FOV as the original Conquest.

    I hope Zeiss offers the new Conquest 42 and 32 together at the same time. Usually they will introduce the 42mm and you have to wait a couple years or so for the 32. Hope they don't discontinue the 32s altogether.
