I went from SX50 to SX60 (barely any difference) and have had the Sony RX10iv since October and really impressed with it, especially birds in flight.
I wouldn't have even attempted some of the shots i've been getting recently with the RX10iv with the SX50/60.
My Flickr with recent RX10iv...
Attempted Sand Martins in flight today at a local colony, pretty pleased with the results i got, also the ones that came out best were from following the bird with a blue/sky background before going in front of the cliff edges and the camera kept it's focus.
Noticing a lot of noise in the...
Definitely, have just taken these this afternoon with dark skies and rain, bird was about 20ft away. https://www.flickr.com/photos/charlesbeams87/44137011760/in/dateposted/
Also yesterday had the chance to photo a very tame Night Heron in a local park, the photo linked had the sun behind it...
Had fun watching this Little Swift flying within feet at Hartlepool today. Took plenty of pics but it was difficult following it at times and almost impossible to follow when there was a darker background, mainly rocks and pavement, but think i did pretty well to follow it. Pretty heavy crops...
Thought i'd got some nice Pied Wagtail flight shots today, was focused on the bird while it was on the rock, but as i followed it, it seems to have focused on the sand |:|| Images are cropped and slightly sharpened.
My first images using this camera after changing from SX60, pleased overall so far, specially as weather hasn't been great since i got it so not really had a good chance to try it with good lighting.
The blackbirds and sparrows were taken through a window and were more test images than anything...
Recently got a new tripod (Manfrotto 055) and i got a 128rc head which turns out is not what i'm after.
Having searched for quite some time looking for a certain type of head, i can't seem to find many, if any. I'm after something "like" this .
The closest thing i've found is this.
Not too sure on this tern, seen this morning on Marske beach. I took the photo from a distance and before i could get any closer, a dog walker had scared it off, also this is the only photo of said bird.
On checking the photo i initially thought Arctic Tern, but had my doubts and have seen...
Some photos in the last week or so since getting my SX60, i've used the SX50 for a few years and decided to get the 60 as it was fairly cheap 2nd hand.
Have to say i'm not seeing a huge difference really.
Need to try some video next.
The birds have been south of the cemetery this year, but have been flying quite a way and going towards an area near the tunnels.
Actually it's not quite south, more east.
On the map i've attached, the Black area is the cemetery, blue is where the birds were mainly seen last year and...
Forgot about this thread, will see if i can keep it going a bit longer this time.
I'm taking part in the Patchwork Challenge this year for this area, but also includes my garden. I'm at 43 species so far this year, i'd be happy at reaching 100 :p
There hasn't been a Grasshopper Warbler since...
Just wondering if anyone can help me with this Grey Seal at South Gare, Redcar yesterday enjoying the sun.
What i want to know is if the Green line/spray(on first photo) means anything? like where it's from etc??
Edit: Just realised this should possibly go in Cetaceans & Marine Life
Noticed this while looking at the eBay weekend deals
Won't be changing myself, as i'm happy enough with my SX50, but seems a good price for those looking to get one.
