Advice on putting out dog fur

Thanks for reply. I guess we'll continue unless we hear anything that suggests we shouldn't - I'm pretty confident that it's not a major problem (if it is at all, that is!)

Advice on putting out dog fur

The last few years we've put out bird feeders stuffed with the product of our Huskies moulting (soft undercoat). Someone has suggested that it was bad practice as "Dangerous as the babies get tangled in it and can't reach up to beg for food". I know about the dangers of flea medication but never...

    Striped Coal Tit

Striped Coal Tit - Merseyside, UK This Coal Tit has been visiting the feeder over the last few days and I managed to get a rubbish shot of it today (ISO800 and through the double glazing - never mind being on a feeder!). Not seen one with a stripe on it's head like that. Unusual? Leucistic?

UK - Coal, Marsh or Willow Tit?

Cheers! Looks like your analysis is borne out by the sightings at Pennington, recorded on the Manchester birding site, which show Willow Tits in evidence at the Bunting hide/feeders

UK - Coal, Marsh or Willow Tit?

Thanks! No, no calling (but I'm even worse than with visual IDs when it comes to call IDs!)

UK - Coal, Marsh or Willow Tit?

Apologies, I'm rubbish at IDs - originally assumed it was Coal Tit, someone suggested Marsh and I'm now wondering whether Willow! Conditions, as you can see were less than perfect in the recent snow! ;) Location was Pennington Flash - feeders in bushes close to a large body of water that has reeds

    Ol' One Leg

Despite only having one leg this gull seemed to be surviving in the snow OK

    LTT hanging on

Not the best of shots but caught this LTT holding on with one leg whilst holding food in the other! Never seen such dexterity before!

    Great Tit: disease or damage?

Many thanks for the reply - appreciated. I guess I'm not surprised that there's nothing that could/should be done - I'll see how (s)he gets on (as was in the garden)

    Great Tit: disease or damage?

Turned up this afternoon and I wondered whether it was disease or damage (looks almost tumour-like) and whether there was any action I should take. Having said that, (s)he was feeding with no probs

Opinion on the Sigma 150-500 for Canon

I've nothing but good things to say about Sigma Service - a while back now but I managed to get some sand in the shutter release button of my SD10. Not only fixed it under warranty (I explained I'd done it on a beach so my fault really!) but also replaced the mechanism and returned it within a week

    Blue Tit UK - Leucistic/Hybrid/Other/Parasite?

Took this yesterday of a Blue Tit. Was wondering whether it was leucistic, a hybrid or something else - there appears to be some sort of ?parasite near it's beak
