I second that. My Monostat RS16SL (extra-long) works perfectly with my spotting scope. I still get a very comfortable view at 45x magnification. -

I like the Kowa TSN-55x - am I alone?

No retro Trinovids after all?
I know, Gijs. It's pretty dry where I live, no problem. The EII will replace a Binuxit that is not waterproof either. The Binuxit was confiscated by my 5-year old son. But back to the Trinovid... Groetjes, Joachim (ex-Tilburg) -

Jan, according to my dealer, Leica "indicated it could be several months before they are able to supply." They were unable to provide an acurate ETA. Meanwhile, I ordered a Nikon 8x30 EII. -

My dealer wrote me to suggest cancelling my order of the Trinovid 7x35 and that's what I did. Poor style of Leica to announce a new product at such an immature stage. Poor business decision as well, the enthusiasm and momentum generated by the announcement of these binoculars seems gone. -

Do you have any reference for that? I always thought that the Kern binoculars were developed in the pre-Leica time. As far as I know, Kern was taken over by Wild Heerbrugg AG which itself became part of the Wild-Leitz Group (microscopes etc.) later. Because of this, Kern binoculars are often...- flatfield

Leitz Vs. Leica Design
You should. 150m field of view and a weight of 520g are still very attractive. Unfortunately, I don't have one but I have a Leitz catalogue from 1953 which shows the porro models of that time. They do look great in my opinion (better than the Ultravids to return to the original subject). Joachim -

I agree with you. The explanation is probably that the second Trinovid generation introduced a waterproof and gas filled construction which is difficult to combine with the elegance of the first Trinovid generation you are referring to. Thinking more about it, maybe this argument is wrong... -

Brock, Thanks for your explanation. When I come home later, I will try to hold the 8x30 FMTR-SX upside down. I never thought about this. But as I said I am very happy anyway with their ergonomics. If the 8x30 EII would be waterproof I would buy them immediately. Center focus is certainly a big... -

Hi Brock, I agree about the IF. But I really like the shape of the Fujinon. The big prisms fit perfectly into my hands. There is no other binocular which I can hold as well as the 6x and 8x30 FMTR-SX Fujinons. What exactly don't you like about the ergonomics? Just curious. Best, Joachim -
