Got any more pics Vern? Looks like Willow (clean white cheek) but seems to show the pale mark on lower mandible shown by Marsh Tit, presume not taken at Upton?

Hi Phil, Tricky to link then across but if you look on Vern's flickr it's the first 3 images of a peregrine I believe, all in flight

Has anyone got any pics of this bird? Vern has a few on his flickr but it looks an interesting bird so would be interested in seeing a few more pics of it, could show some features of calidus/tundrius! But need more photos to be sure

Mega! Has there ever been a record of Iceland on the deck at UW? Hopefully it'll do the same tomorrow and allow more people to see it

Will let John post the majority of the sightings from the Moors today, just thought I'd post up about the 1w Black-headed Gull with a dark green darvic on that was present today. Originally ringed as a juv (caught by hand using food, so not necessarily bred there) in a park just outside Oslo...

Mega Caspian Gull! About time upton got one of these beauts! Hope it returns for a few more people to connect with it! Cracking photos!
  13. timmyjones

    Upton Warren

True, but a quick email to the ringer could confirm that this bird was at least a limosa
  14. timmyjones

    Upton Warren

As far as I'm aware its only limosa that breed in the UK so a record of a bird ringed as a nestling in the UK would indicate that it was a limosa, could be easily overlooked

Are there any photos of this bird? Presumably a limosa and also presumably a first for the reserve?

I guess a juv would make more sense at this time of the year, but this bird appears to be an adult? Guess birds in Warwickshire would be closest population to upton?

Further recordings of the same bird singing more like a Whitethroat https://soundcloud.com/timmyjones1234/upton-mystery-2 What else do you think it could be Des?

First visit to Upton for far too long today! Most of what we saw has been covered, LRP chick did appear to have been lost with both adults seen for an extended period of time not attending any chick. Most interesting for me was a slightly odd calling warbler along the east track at the moors...

This bird only has a metal ring on and not a yellow darvic like what would be used in those schemes you've mentioned Phil, this bird could be from anywhere, the yellow tint to the ring is likely to be staining making it look yellow rather than the usual silver

Just to let everyone know, have sent photos of Sy's gull to a few gullers and they seem to think that it shows some good Caspian Gull features, but with these photos an aberrant Herring Gull can't be ruled out, a shame to have another close miss after John's bird, but I'm sure it's only a matter...

The bird that Kingfisher Blue (John?) has posted looks to me to be a different bird to what Sy has posted photos of, Kingfisher Blue's photo appears to show a 2cy Lesser Black-backed Gull, from Sy's photos I can't see that bird being a LBBG due to extensive pale window on its inner primaries...

Thanks for posting further photos of this interesting 2cy (1w/1s) gull. First off it caught my eye from the first photo on account of, rather grey and pale mantle, scapulars, lesser and median coverts, a pale trailing edge to the greater coverts, uniform secondaries and tertials and a pale and...

So they have a net full of fish in front of the hide to encourage the Kingfishers in? Also did you get my PM earlier?

Hi Margaret, In the 3 photos you've posted, the male is the bird at the rear in the first picture, the right hand bird in the second and the third is of the female. I would imagine that the brighter legs in the female will be down to individual variation and the features that I put in my last...
