Nikon FF (and DX) Mirrorless rumours/ announcements

No problem. I had to look up the refresh rate of the m4/3 cameras, and the top range (from both brands) meet (but does not exceed) the 120 Hz standard. The full frame S1 has the same 120 Hz in a 5.7 million dots resolution. Niels Niels

Nikon FF (and DX) Mirrorless rumours/ announcements

Chosun wrote Are you sure that is the most important quality measure of an EVF? to my mind, it is more important to have an EVF that updates really fast (200-400 times per second) to get a truly delay-free image. Whether that display is 3, 5, 7, or 9 million dots? I am not sure that our eyes...

Nikon FF (and DX) Mirrorless rumours/ announcements

Well, the above made me go to the nikon camera page in DP review. in 2015 there were many different nikon coolpix models announced, but in 2017 it was one, in 2018 two, and in 2019 three (most of these are long zoom models, the type of coolpix that phone cameras have the greatest difficulty...

That would be my strategy as well. Making completely new design I suspect would be more costly, and they are to be used with a system that so far is still needing to prove itself regarding earnings power. Niels

Nikon FF (and DX) Mirrorless rumours/ announcements

Doesn't that already apply to the Nikon full frame bodies, so what is the difference? Question is: how much does Nikon earn from a "1" lens if it is not already in stock? Do they have production facilities for that format anymore? If not, that would amount to throwing good money after bad...

Nikon FF (and DX) Mirrorless rumours/ announcements

For comparison, panasonic makes a 14-140 mm F3.5-5.6 with built in stabilizer which with m4/3 sensor has field of view corresponding to 28-280. This weighs in at 265 g (0.58 lb) and has a length of 75 mm (2.95″) (all data from DPReview). It is about as sharp as a kit lens can be expected to be...

There are several Japanese corporations with photo/video portfolio you did not mention. These are not at this time the world leaders in volume, but are they exceptions to your complaint? Niels

Maybe. On the other hand, with the pixel size of this beast, you are going to be behind on high iso performance. Niels

Nikon FF (and DX) Mirrorless rumours/ announcements

My guess is that it would be more likely to occur in a fixed lens compact first, and only after proven reliable there would someone think about ILC use. Think about how much it would take to make a new system and how long it would take to populate with a completely new set of lenses -- I guess...
