    ? Weren't the first set of photos from Ontario? ...As I understand it, D Halas was asking about the immature bird which was the first one on this thread (this is why it's a good idea to start a new thread for each [set of birds] so things don't get mixed up).

    I think this is right. There may also be a tendency for juv. /Imm. black-crowned to have more yellow irises (later becoming much darker orange), with yellow-crowned having darker irises from a young age but I don't know good a character this is
