Looking for new binos 300-500£: help me to reduce my list of options plz

Hi, I understand what you mean but brands like Opticron and GPO use the same eyecup design that eliminates a lot of glare and that's the point of a good product: to be well designed to fix the optical issues. Considering how massive is the glare on the Viper, I doubt any facial structure can...

My 1st feeder: where shall I put it? (photos provided)

Yes, yes, I know. It's just I read people who got birds straight away so I feel like I have something to fix. I guess some people are lucky, or better located 😔

My 1st feeder: where shall I put it? (photos provided)

Was at work till late but looks like no luck so far. I ordered a few super suet balls, will put 1 on the feeder to make the meal more visible. However, I suspect the main issue is the lack of plants and vegetation around. I hope a bushy plant hanged nearby will solve the issue. I'm wondering if...

    I see, I'll try that :)

My 1st feeder: where shall I put it? (photos provided)

Done (photos): I put a few seeds as well. I'll be wary of rats though, if I suspect something, I'll remove the seeds from the floor. I might attract a black bird with that too :)

My 1st feeder: where shall I put it? (photos provided)

Ahah great, I hope I won't attract starlings though, they tend to chase away the other birds :)

My 1st feeder: where shall I put it? (photos provided)

I have a big kitchen bin and we never use the lid: I will clean it and use it for the birds. If they like it, I'll buy something suitable.

My 1st feeder: where shall I put it? (photos provided)

Cool. Maybe I can get something cheap for the plant. Also, you seem to say a bird bath would definitely attract some birds: do you think something like this could work? Bird bath: Bronze Bird Water Bath - RSPB Shop

My 1st feeder: where shall I put it? (photos provided)

Just noticed something interesting: I have 2 big screws that pop out of the wall (see photo attached). I could add a string to support the feeder. Also, do you think it would help the birds if I hanged a pot of a small but thick, bushy plant to one of the screw (see 2nd photo)?

My 1st feeder: where shall I put it? (photos provided)

Thank you for your time: the feeder is wide open. See the photo here: Gothic arch window feeder - Window feeders - save nature while you shop Yes, I think it might fall, that's why I don't put too much food in it. I just hope it won't break. I think I will move the feeder down the wall/window...

My 1st feeder: where shall I put it? (photos provided)

Hi! I bought a window feeder and a sunflower heart bag ( No-Mess Bird Seed | No Mess Sunflower Mix - RSPB Shop ) from RSPB and I would like advice regarding the best place where to put it. See photos: basically, I have a 6 square meters open space closed between 4 walls. Only me has access to...

Looking for new binos 300-500£: help me to reduce my list of options plz

Yes, it is what I have done: I tried all the binoculars listed in my last post and I chose the GPA. The Vortex Viper has a major issue with glare: I tried 2 10x50 and 3 8x42, all of them show a permanent grey stain on each lense. Even at dusk, it is visible so bad it is. That's the only issue I...

Looking for new binos 300-500£: help me to reduce my list of options plz

After trying many binoculars - Opticron DBA VHD+ 8x42/10x42, Vortex Viper 10x50/8x42, Hawke Frontier ED X 8x42, Hawke Frontier APO 8x42, GPO Passion ED 8x42, Vortex Razor 8x42 - and considered all binoculars below 900£, I decided to go for the GPO Passion ED 8x42. I'll give feedback later, to...

New Hawke Frontier Apo vs Nikon MHG

I did more tests this morning and while the fov is slightly narrower than what the specs boast, it's ok. It's probably around 415-420ft. I'm not sure what biased my tests yesterday, maybe bad eyecups/hinge setup.

Result after cleaning binoculars: normal or not normal?

Hi, unless the lenses are water repellent, I always have this terrible result after cleaning my lenses (see photo attached). I use brush and then professional liquid applied on a microfiber cloth. Do you have the same result? It looks like all stains and smears are gone but the liquid leaves a...

Review / Test Hawke Frontier APO 10x42 vs Nikon Monarch HG 8x42

Hi, I acquired the Hawke Frontier APO 8x42 recently and I have just given them a quick test: effective field of view is 395-400ft, not 426ft (I compared them side-by-side with a 395ft binoculars and a 426ft binoculars) focus wheel revolution: 0,9 turn image is bright enough eyecups too large...

Need feedback: Nikon Monarch HG durability?

Hi, I have been buying and returning quite a lot of binoculars these days, failing to find the ones that would suit me. I'm considering to go well above my budget (initially 600£ max) and try the Nikon MHG 8x42. My question is: has anyone been using it intensively - let's say once a week - for...

Observations on the GPO Passion ED 8X42

Hi, I just acquired these binoculars and I'm going to test them more in a few days. Quick feedback after quick test: lightweight, compact and very comfortable to use eyecups ok for me and position stays steady no diopter lock but it's ok for me love the caps for the objectives: no stuff to...

Looking for new binos 300-500£: help me to reduce my list of options plz

I did a bit of test this morning, of both the Vortex Viper 8x42 and the Opticron DBA VHD+ 8x42, side-by-side. I confirm the Opticron FOV is a bit narrow and the Viper FOV wide and comfortable. I did long, intense observation of 2 Egyptian geese on a pond. I tried to find a clear difference...
