    The worst seems to be on high-contrast edges from white objects in very bright conditions. Try a yacht hull on a sunny day against a dark background. Perhaps the NV is optimised (as its name suggests) for lower-light situations? Anyway I relish the presentation it gives even on sunny days...

    Centring the camera lens on the ocular is pretty straightforward, but testing and then consistently getting the correct ER is much more difficult to achieve. ER can have a significant impact on CA.

    I had one break as well (the mounting) and Leica sent me a new pair free. The plastic seems a little brittle. It's strange to have this oversight on such a nicely designed and built binocular. Having said that, they do work very well before they break!

    I have also noticed that in the NV 8x it is often very bright/white areas that create the most CA. For example, yachts on a very sunny day. But please note my earlier comment about eye positioning. In this case, camera positioning.

    Yes it's a close call but I ended up with the Leica NV. I'm sure I would have been happy with either. CA in the NV is not as bad as some people like to claim once you get the eye position consistently just right (I use O-rings) and the colours and contrast make up for it. As a current model...

    I agree (and many others have said the same) that the 8x NV is a better overall optic than the 10x. Certainly less CA.

    I also consistently see a slight green bias though the SFs I have looked through (only the x42s). It dulls the contrast and saturation compared to better glass, for me anyway.

    I know, ridiculous, and the NL is probably very close. And if somebody considered 'length' a deal-breaker for some crazy reason then the SF would of course be completely ignored and the Noctivid or Ultravid would be the clear winner.
