I'm confused by when you say "it's been two years now". Do you mean it's been 2 years since you got them back from servicing? It sounds as if you've been using the binoculars for 2 years seemingly with no issue in daytime viewing? So, in 2 years you haven't looked through them in low light... -

Just curious here, besides the outward appearance in the change of color, do you see any changes while actually viewing through them? Trust me, I would be annoyed here too! But I'm hoping that the silver lining is that there is no apparent change in image quality despite this. -

EL 12x50 swarovision eyecups (inadequate eye relief)

Does anyone know if the NL 8x42 eyecups will fit the EL 8.5x42? I wear glasses and would like to gain a few mm's of eye relief if it's possible. Or if anybody has any other solution, let me know. Thanks! -

Entry - Midrange Binocular Recommendation ($500)
I agree that he should jump on the Trinovid that is for sale on the classifieds! But if you're still wanting to go another route, maybe give the Kowa BDII XD 8x42 a try. I have one and it's pretty good. IMO they are small and light for an 8x42 and they seem to have good build quality. Check 'em...- Gdavis248

When I have wash my EL's I removed the eye cups and ran the lenses under warm water. Took a dab of dish soap on my finger and very gently rubbed in a circular motion on the lenses, basically just enough to spread it around. Rinse again thoroughly. Interesting. I wonder if I would have any trouble with the eye placement given that I wear glasses. I tried the NLs in a store just last week and didn't seem to have any issues off hand with eye placement. Of course, one can only place so much stock in looking through any bino in a store but... -
