If we pretend KC's Ruby-throated Hummingbird was a T instead of an R, I think we're back on track? It's been an R and an H already, no reason it can't be a T.

Autumnwatch returns on Tuesday 26th October 8.00pm BBC 2

There's a 10-minute thing called Autumnwatch Spectacles on the red Button which seems to be being shown a lot of times. The main programme is 8pm Tuesday to Friday on BBC2, except in Wales on the Tuesday when it's on later. Episode 1 link for those in the UK: BBC Two - Autumnwatch, 2021, Episode 1

Autumnwatch returns on Tuesday 26th October 8.00pm BBC 2

He tweeted that the dates got changed meaning it clashed with a tour he was booked for and he didn't want to let people down. Looks like we're getting Megan as a stand-in. Meanwhile it looks like they've managed to get Michaela back into the country at long last. On the down side, only 4...

Time for a serious attempt at Delia's record for the worst photo used. Albatross. Black-browed Albatross. It is one, honest.

I can do a bird from a Z place, but not a Z bird name, so I'll wait a bit and see if someone can come up with a better option.

Pink-footed Goose. A little closer (and nearer the ground) than I usually see them.

Monk Parakeet. (yes, one of the Mudchute Park ones that are supposedly not a sustainable population despite them sustaining themselves quite happily)

Rarest bird you have seen in the UK?

Depending exactly how you interpret the question, you'll get the same answer from a lot of people. If it's the bird with the smallest current UK breeding population, which I think was the spirit of the question, there are a lot of us who've seen (or heard, in my case) Lady Amherst's Pheasant...

Another opportunity to play exactly the same species for the next letter. If only I'd ever seen one... OK, Yellow-legged Gull. By the River Tiber in Rome.

I think all my Os have already been played, so I'll dive in with an N - Northern Pintail.

No-one's used nightjar yet. Not even as an N, never mind a J. Anyone? Failing that, Birdtrack tells me I've got 2 J locations among my records - Jubilee Lake in Royal Wootton Bassett and ... the JCB factory in Staffordshire. No use this time round, though, because I played the previous letter.

Flicking through the photos I have in my wildlife folder, I could have done G and I've got an I, but H is defeating me. Typical. Very disappointed that Delia turned down the opportunity to play a grey fantail as a G after one had just been used as an F...

Another call for the shockingly-bad holiday snaps, this time from a day trip to Liechtenstein during which I visited the Cathedral in Vaduz. Crag Martin. I did also get some (slightly) better images for ID purposes. Honest.

If we get desperate, my local park begins with a Q and I've got photos of 20 or so species taken there. But perhaps we should wait a bit to see if someone has a proper Q bird...

The rules of the game don't specify it has to be a good photo, so here's Long-tailed Jaeger, aka Long-tailed Skua. It was taken with the sun pretty much directly behind the bird, hence the colours being off. Fortunately others saw the bird and got rather better images, allowing it to be...
