Hmmm. Looking through photos, that Nutmeg looks more like a Dusky Brocade.

A splendid Puss Moth was an excellent best of a pretty fair bunch this morning, never seen one before. Coxcomb Prominent & Nutmeg were year ticks, Buff-tip, a couple of Ele Hawks and a Kitten provided some attractive support. I took the Kitten to be a Sallow when I first saw it bleary-eyed at...

    June 2022 Moths

I nearly didn't bother trapping Thursday night, thought it might rain (it didn't). Very glad I risked it, given I bagged no fewer than 5 garden ticks and a further 7 year ticks in a catch of over 50 moths of over 30 species. Broad-barred White, Shoulder-striped Wainscot, Pine Carpet, Vestal and...

And at work today a feeding Hummingbird Hawk-moth paused on a leaf long enough for a few pics with my phone.

It was a micro that stole the show on Sunday night, a Scarce Light Plume, quite a rare migrant. I managed to fumble potting it to enable better photos, but fortunately managed to get a shot in situ at the bottom of the trap. It's not a Striped Hawk-moth, but I'll take it! New for year macros...

It's Peach Blossom season again. Better yet, my second Sandy Carpet for the garden. Those along with Freyer's Pug & Clouded Border bring the garden macro year list to 100, two days later than last year.

    June 2022 Moths

A meagre 7 of 8 for my yesterday. That one of the 8 was a rather fine female Ghost Moth was a bonus though, with Double Square-spot the other year tick.

A pretty good crop this morning, 31 of 23 species. Pick of the bunch were my first Bordered White and second Ingrailed Clay and the year's first Cinnabar, Clouded Silver & Riband Waves. Other treats included Scorched Wing, Pebble Hook-tip, a couple of White Ermine and a Mottled Beauty.

With 5 additions overnight (Common Lutestring, Gold Spot, Flame, Grey Pug & Large Yellow Underwing), I'm on 89 (macros) for the year, pretty much neck and neck with last year.
