Female not present when i passed the nest site twice today Michael - may be coincidental, but i suspect she has deserted the nest. However a male Redstart feeding chicks only 50 yards away from our other nest site - unless the original site chicks have fledged and he's still feeding them?

Nice to see this fella drop into Druridge Pools this afternoon - watched him take a few caterpillars then fly off, however he returned 5 times in a couple of hours.. Plenty of common stuff to watch while the Cuckoo did whatever Cuckoo's do until they come back to the same spot for more...

Thanks Richard :t: Also had this fella in the same place, but got him today. He landed 4 feet from me and i wasn't really paying attention and missed him :-C i reckon he would have probably been too close for a shot anyway due to min focus distance. However i got him when he landed on his next...

    Durham Birding

Hi Michael - This is becoming increasingly frustrating, i've recently seen photos of the birds at this site which look as though they have been taken from the 'other' side of the fence, in front of the nest box shooting upward, it beggars belief when the easiest place to get shots is from within...

    Durham Birding

The Tawny Owl that my mate Michael and I are watching has got at least 2 chicks that must have hatched in the last few days - the male bird just sat in a nearby tree while i watched from my car - fantastic experience. Also had a nice pair of male redstarts on the fringes of an oak woodland that...

Nice afternoon, met up with a good few friendly faces i haven't seen for a while in glorious Northumberland.. The highlights being 46 Whoopers, Merlin, Sanderling, Redshank, Kestrel, Barn Owl & M&F Stonechat.. Quite a crowd present for barnie, so my theory of positioning myself away from the...

Why is it that when you manage to connect with something posing for the camera the sky is flat grey - cracking views of this 'little un' east of Durham.. Wished there had been a bit of blue sky behind him :-C
