    Lighter alternative to 100-400 II

I always do a lot of research and it does get tiresome, so in the end I'm used to Canon, never had any problems, and the mirrorless are backwards compatible with all my EF L lens (with the adapter) which I like and don't want/can't really afford to replace, although I'm sure someone will point...

    Lighter alternative to 100-400 II

I personally went for the R7 due to the higher frame rate and better tracking, but the R10 is cheaper, of course, and as I've never used it I can't comment with any authority - try Youtube Wild Alaska channel, there's reviews of each on there. Focus speed seems to fine to me and although I do...

Old photo improved by new software. Taken through the kitchen window on a dull day, the original was very noisy which AI Denoise has enhanced.

First pairs of binoculars - travel

Guys, the Kowa Genesis is not the model to which I'm referring, it's the much cheaper BDII 6.5x32 XD. I might be wrong - I usually am - but if I understand correctly, Lukny is looking for a decent general use pair, rather than specifically for serious birdwatching, and also to carry round with...

First pairs of binoculars - travel

Hi Lukas, Can't disagree with the Opticron view, but I personally chose the Kowa BDII 32-6.5XD when tested against the Traveller and even the Swaro. Should be approx Euro 390 and worth every penny (or cent). Cheers

Thanks for the kind comments. This individual came so close to the hide that at times it was impossible to focus, although I did manage a dozen or so, even including one mid-boom. We were very lucky

    Canon R7 lens suggestions

Just found this one too, a brighter day from much closer, about 150 yds I think. Also forgot to add that I use EF lenses so I can keep my 7D Mk II as a back-up or additional rig to save lens changes in the field. Hope the photos can be of some assistance.

    Canon R7 lens suggestions

Hi, a couple of photos taken with the R7/RF600, ISO 1000 at 1/1024 from a distance of approx 350-400m. The original gives an idea of the weather conditions, the crop is auto enhanced and noise removal. As a birdwatcher/photographer, rather than the reverse, I find it acceptable. As an aside -...

Another shot of the spoonbill, same details as previous. Bit of a gap between submissions due to hard drive failure!

    Lighter alternative to 100-400 II

I suppose much depends on price and perfection - if you're looking for the latter, then you pay a premium price. As a casual, very average photographer, also getting on a bit now, the weight issue is also important, especially as I'm primarily a birdwatcher and so carry bins and, often, a...

Thanks for the generous comments! The weather was awful so I have to admit to tweaking the levels a little but that's about the extent of my photo-editing knowledge. It's a long-stayer and can be very obliging, so well worth a visit if anyone is passing.

Chiffchaff? Or other warbler? London, England.

Interesting. Warbler id has become something of a (sad?) fascination with me, when I asked re the voice it wasn't to differentiate between willow warbler and chiffchaff - which I should have added to my original thread, apologies - but the distinct supercilium, paler bill and cleaner underparts...
