Which binocular(s) did you use today?

The SN of the gray 7x50 is on the ocular end under T*, and on the obj end of the black BGAT version. I am attaching a flyer with a brief description of the black model and the gray ones. The gray 6x42 model, which I also own, is called Skipper.

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

Zeiss 7x50 Nautical (gray) with compass and reticle---sharp and bright. This is becoming more of a (rare and expensive) collector item but I was on a ship and I had to use it.

Funny title! (I was thinking almost the same when I saw your photo). The blue tit is such a pretty little bird (the long-tailed tit is prettier but a bit less common here). TFS!

Intrigued by your sentence above, can you explain?

Third party strap for my Swaro EL 42

My favorite strap for relatively heavy binos is the one that comes with the Canon IS 10x42. If you can find one sold separately (it would be far too expensive ......to buy a Canon 10x42 just for the strap) grab it.

Zeiss FL issue...and are they still repairable?

I don't think that Zeiss will offer a new SF 8x42 as a replacement: that would be like selling the new SF to you, and their CS does not sell binos as far as I know. Concerning the 7x42 they have offered, the intriguing question is how did the CS get it? Maybe they got it from another customer...

    Help dating Zeiss Dialyt 7x42 B/GA T*P SN: 2190355

Hi B_W123, Are you able to date my 7x42 T*P 400269, and can you please tell if in fact it is T*P*? From a previous post on the BF: "I emailed Zeiss in Germany and Zeiss emailed back confirming that there is no difference between the T*P and T*P* coatings. The extra * is for cosmetic symmetry...

An alternative to the Pentax Papilio 6.5x21?

Look at the image to see what I meant..... Now seriously, Vixen can make pretty good optics.

An alternative to the Pentax Papilio 6.5x21?

This photo from the ad for Vixen is meant to show the advantage of a super wide angle bino: you can see also the skates. But why would you want to see the skates.... https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ps8AAOSw1S5nXLui/s-l1600.jpg

Why is buying and collecting binoculars so addictive.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I hope some of you will agree with me:

Why is buying and collecting binoculars so addictive.

Binoculariosis is a recurrent "disease" like the flu: I was free of it for a while but this past month I bought four Zeiss classics (and they're not only "beautiful" but I am also impressed by their optics, so no buyer's remorse)

Somewhat funny this bird is called nötskrika (nut scream) in Sweden. TFS!

Zeiss FL issue...and are they still repairable?

Any guess about their turnaround time? Roughly speaking how much time do they need to inspect your bino and give you an estimate, and then to service it?

Zeiss FL issue...and are they still repairable?

The focusers of several Zeiss Victory binos (both FL and SF) that I own(ed) have an audible friction noise but I wouldn't call it loud or intrusive. If the focuser of your FL 10x42 is fluid and smooth throughout its range I would not be too concerned.

New user with NL Pure 10x32 Problem

What you show in the 2nd pic are indeed blackouts, but what happens in the situation of your 1st pic is that you don't see the sharp edge of the field stop (thus you don't see the full FoV). Instead of FHR you can try O-rings for a finer adjustment of the eyecups length.

    Floaters

Surgery I guess? ("An ophthalmologist who is a specialist in retina and vitreous surgery removes the vitreous through a small incision (vitrectomy). Why are Zeiss so sharp on-axis compared to other binoculars?

Your friend would clearly win the debate if he added to his argument the fact that usually when your eyesight is excellent your budget is low, and vice-versa. How many young birders carry Swaro , Zeiss or Leica? I would guess that very few: they cannot afford them and also they don't really need...

    I never met a 7x I liked until I met the Zeiss FL 7x42.

Did you mean you ordered an FL 10x32? That was the binocular Mike said has very little field curvature. Indeed the FL 10x32 behaves almost like if it had field flatteners. Concerning the view thru the FL 7x42, to my eyes it has too much pincushion distortion, which was probably the compromise...

What did you see in your binoculars today?

Can swifts or hobby falcons fly backwards? But I agree that crows are very intelligent: they're in the top 10 of the smartest animals. They can solve rather complex puzzles: .
