    OM-1 vs Canon R7 both w/100-400

I use the OM Systems OM1 Mk2 but mainly use it with the 150-400mm pro zoom which is a terrific set up for birds and other wildlife. If I want to travel even lighter I use the 300mm pro which is a razor sharp lens even with the 1.4 teleconverter attached. The pics are great and there are lots of...

Font Roja sites for Spanish Fritillary

I will be travelling to Font Roja, Valencia, Spain in May especially to see Spanish Fritillary which I have missed elsewhere in the past. I was wondering if anyone could help me with a specific site/area to see this butterfly. I know it has been recorded here but I am unsure exactly where to...

    Could the Future be Rosy?

After hearing about an adult Rose Coloured Starling at Hengistbury Head this morning, I dashed over there from Christchurch only to find out it had just flown off. It was last seen flying over the houses near the golf course and was lost to view. I decided to return in the evening to try to see...

    Black-throated Thrush, Whipsnade, Bedfordshire

The overwintering Black-throated Thrush at Whipsnade Zoo is showing well during it's daily feeding routine. Feeding on berries, resting in shrubs, dropping down to catch worms, resting. It is unconcerned about the visiting public. Berries not as plentiful now, still looks settled though.

    Provence Hairstreak

Taken near Javea in Spain in March 2019. A species I have long wanted to see.

    Firecrest on Fat Ball Feeder

Firecrest did return to feed on fat ball feeder twice today at 14.35 and 15.15. It was joined by a mail Bullfinch at 15.15 which was on the sunflower hearts feeder. This morning I heard a loud 'Kerchew, Kerchew, Kerchew, Kerchew' call overhead and was amazed to see 2 Peregrine Falcons flying...

    Firecrest on Fat Ball Feeder

Thanks everyone. If the Firecrest returns in the next few days I will endeavour to try and get some better photos without any windows in the way!

    Hello Everyone

I have just joined the Bird Forum. I have been birding for some time, so should have joined the forum a long time ago. I am also keen on butterflies and dragonflies, help out on the Dorset Birds website and am a writer for the Hampshire Butterfly Report. I try to always have my camera with me so...

    Firecrest on Fat Ball Feeder

Around 12.40, 14.30 and 15.45 on 8th January 2020 a Firecrest visited the fat ball feeder in our West Christchurch, Dorset garden. I've been feeding birds for a number of years now but have never seen this feeding behaviour before. I have had Firecrests in the garden before, the last being in...
