Mr. Wollweber, Mr. Alxandre/Alexander and Mr. Rieffer

Close but afraid he was buried on 12 Apr 1810. Definitely right family! They were married in May 1805 and had a girl in Jan 1808. So I suspect Louis was born in 1806 or early 1807. Unfortunately records I can access seem to begin in 1808.

Mr. Wollweber, Mr. Alxandre/Alexander and Mr. Rieffer

Returning to my Post # 37. Wollweber is actually an uncommon German name: We had already found: Wilhelm Wollweber (b. 16 Feb 1818 Hesse -July 16 1895 Nieder-Ramstadt, Hesse) and Karoline Henriette Bertha Praetorius (b. 1 Jan 1830, Hesse) married in Schotten, Hesse Wilhelm was an official and...

    Wollaston's Pipit ssp.

The circumstances of Wollaston's murder are very mysterious and definitely fodder for a good movie here. I see Ralph Fiennes as Wollaston and Tom Holland as Potts. Set in the bohemian Jazz clubs of London - why was there a policeman in Wollaston office, why (or did) did a promising student...

    Ceyx websteri (Hartert, E, 1898) & Cacomantis variolosus websteri Hartert, E, 1898

The talk of a sister is intriguing. He has no sister in family trees however in 1898 Herbert went through a very messy divorce in Australia that led to him marrying Pauline Louise Campbell-Renton (b.1868-d. after 1939) in 1901 back in England. There is a good chance his "sister" in these...

Monsieur Vérany, and "his" invalid (Cattle) Egret

The real issue is the spelling of the Surname. The family were a nobel Italian line with the spelling Verani. The Father was baptised Trophime Verani. Most but not all of Jean-Baptiste records spell the name Vérany.

Yes there is no doubt this is our man but the supposed reason given in the Emu article for him changing his name is complete fiction. Hugh's mother Sophia Everina Isabella Macknight (1858–1938) had 4 brothers. All of whom married, 3 of which were medical doctors and them and their descendent...
