Are two binoculars better than one?

Dunno why jizz is taking precedent over giss considering jizz's more common slang/dictionary meaning.

Robins with or without grey faces?

I thought they were just normal colour variations with no actual significance. My resident male robin is very pale chested with a bit of wishy/washy grey elsewhere, he's recently paired up (seen feeding) a smart looking female that has a lightish grey chest and strong darker grey head and sides.

Does the SF carrying case fit?

It would be worth checking, they have form for using the same photo for different items. (They used the same squared off aircell neck strap photo for that and the standard contoured strap) I bought a Conquest 40/45 case from there and it is the clip fastening one not the zipper, I thought the...

    Which animal North/West Poland

Yep a Mink, the local smaller wildlife and birds wouldn't call them cute  Could be a fur farm escapee if not usual habitant, they're pretty common in the U.K. thanks to activists setting them free from fur farms some years ago. Only really the Otter that will predate them here.

ID Handbook of European Birds - thoughts, comments thread

I've been waiting to buy as I don't want the lottery of getting a creased one and returning it. But browsing a local bookshop online today surprised me that they have it in stock, still under rrp at £72, around a tenner more than you can get it elsewhere but worth it to save any hassle. Will...

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

Just look up microscope eyepiece covers/eyecups/eyeguards etc, loads on ebay in various diameters.

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

Don't want to leave a decent pair permanently on the floor along with removing rainguard and objective covers everytime I want to use them. I can just leave the covers off the cheapo ones all day, pick them up and use them. Covers go back on overnight.

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

My feeders and hedging are only around 30-40 feet away from my lounge window. I wanted a permanent pair of bins to leave at the side of the chair instead of keep getting my regular ones out then away again so went budget. Just got a pair of 8x42 Vector ones for £40 (on sale). Using them all the...

Why do Blue Jays seem to dislike crows so much?

A few years ago I was on a caravan site in Devon, about 20 yards away was a group of feeding rabbits including a very small kit. 2 carrion crows were nonchantlantly wandering amongst them, one then sidled up to the kit and in a flash dropped the nut on it driving it's beak into the kits head...

    Bird Watcher vs Birder

I always will be a bird watcher no matter how serious I take it, sorry but every time I hear or see the term "birder" I automatically think of Peter Kay and his Car Share sketch of dog walkers being doggers 🙂

    Blackcaps today

First time I'd had one in the garden so didn't know what they preferred, it also ignored the resident Robin and Blackbirds' ground feeding area right by the Mahonia.

    Blackcaps today

One turned up today, first time I've seen one in the garden. Seems to be taking up residence for the duration, done nothing all day but decimate the Mahonia flowers totally ignoring all the feeders.

    Zeiss neckstraps

Picture does show the Aircell but I got a standard one, not complaining as it's still cheap, I won't be contacting the dealer to ask why it was cheap 🙂 A later browse of the site showed they also sell the Aircell using the same photo but that is at the proper price. I have got a chest harness...

    Zeiss neckstraps

Microscope is a Brunel x10-x45 zoom stereo one with built in camera, spare eyepieces and objective multiplier lets it double or quadruple magnifications if needs be.Not high end but perfectly fine for what we want, wife uses it for plant diseases and bugs, I use it to check out insects and...

    Zeiss neckstraps

To round this off, parcel arrived today. The strap is not a squared off Aircell one like the picture but is a neoprene OE one, contoured and exactly the same as the one on my Terra Ed 8x32. Don't know much of a bargain it is now as can't find them anywhere else including the Zeiss site but quite...

    Is this blackbird healthy?

It's the genes in our area, we have had quite a few black and white ones like a mini Magpie over the past few years and a even a pure white one.

    Zeiss neckstraps

Just after a bit of information and perhaps give a heads up. I was after a Zeiss case for a one of my bins today and saw they also had a supposed genuine Zeiss neoprene neck strap for £8.62. I've only seen the Aircell neoprene comfort straps that are around the £40 mark, can't find any other...

    Another Newbie

Afternoon, just reporting in as a newbie to the site. Name is Mick from Staffordshire Moorlands area. I'm just a casual birdwatcher at the moment but always got a pair of bins to hand. I can see from browsing the site it looks like I will probably catch the full bug and become more serious about...
