    Woman attacked by a magpie

The interesting thing about the Australian Magpie is that it knows which way you are facing. If you have your back to the bird and it is nesting nearby, it is likely to attack. I have been swooped on numerous occasions and one maned to piece my head with either its claws or its bill. On that...

I love seeing double barred finch along the esplanade in Darwin when we can get up there. Sadly the Pandemic is keeping me at home in Victoria this year so far. Hopefully there is still time before the wet sets in up there

Nice capture. The Goldfinch is a bird that has been introduced to Australia, or at least the southern part of the continent, and I see it in quite large numbers.

One of the nice things about the Rainbow Lorikeet is that they seem to be increasing in numbers. I have them in my garden just about every day whereas 10/15 years ago ot was unusual for me to see them. A beautiful bird

Comment by 'Guest' in media 'Oystercatcher'

I always find it surprising that I can fly 12000 miles and see Oystercarchers and come home to Australia and see the same ( well, very similar) birds. Ours are Pied Oystercatchers Haematopus longirostris but very similar

Comment by 'Guest' in media 'Spiney'

I love Eastern Spine bills. At a certain time of year at the top of Mount Macedon here in Victoria when a particular plant comes into flower, there are as many as 30 or 40 Spine bills feeding from these flowers and darting around. I am not sure what the plants are, very large, agapanthus type...
