    A Few From Thailand

Hey all, Just back from a trip to Thailand and could use some help with a few. These were all taken about an hour north of Chiang Mai (northern Thailand.) 1. Oriental Honey-buzzard was my first thought, but doesn't seem quite right. 2. A prinia of some type? 3. Pied Bushchat? Thanks

    Seabirds-- SoCal

I wasn't really getting a scoter feel, plus we only get about 5 or so records of White-winged Scoter annually in San Diego. They kind of looked like Cinnamon Teal to me, but that could be way off.

    Seabirds-- SoCal

Hey all, Went on a whale watch this morning in north San Diego county and had a couple species I was unsure of. The first is a pair of alcids, possibly Scripp's Murrelets? The other is a group of ducks flying about 1/2 a mile offshore. My apologies on the picture quality for both.

    Gadwall x Mallard or...? (SoCal)

Hey all, Found this duck yesterday at a local lake in San Diego county. My first impression was Gadwall x Mallard hybrid, or just another weird domestic-type Mallard (there were a few in the same area.) https://flic.kr/p/BMEAkb

    Hawk ID (SoCal, USA)

Hey all, Saw this hawk today in Oceanside, CA and managed to get a few crummy shots of it. It's probably just another Red-tail, but looked a bit different so wanted to double check. Thanks for any help!

    Thayer's Gull? SoCal

Yes, noticed the deformity too. It was pretty visible in the field. Don't know what's causing it either, but the gull seemed perfectly fine.

    Thayer's Gull? SoCal

I've started leaning towards Herring Gull as well, and pretty certain this isn't a Western. Don't have enough experience with Thayer's to come to a solid conclusion though.

    Thayer's Gull? SoCal

Hello all, Saw this gull today in Oceanside, CA and it looks like a good candidate for a Thayer's to me. If not, would love to know what it is. Thanks for any help!

    Pacific-golden or Black-bellied Plover? CA

Yea, been leaning towards Black-bellied too. Don't have much experience with Pacific-golden though.

    Pacific-golden or Black-bellied Plover? CA

Hello all, Saw this plover today in Imperial Beach, CA and can't decide between Black-bellied or Pacific-golden Plover. Black-bellied is by far the more common species here, but there has been a Pacific-golden wintering at this location for awhile.

    Gulls; SoCal

Hello all, Have a few gulls I'm unsure about, all seen in December in Oceanside, CA Gull 1: My first thought was Glacous-winged but the bill appears too small. Possibly a Thayer's or some sort of hybrid? https://www.flickr.com/photos/92988930@N06/11763714513/in/datetaken/...

    Unknown Bird- Italy

Saw this bird back in December, 2014 in Rome, Italy. My first thought was juvenile European Starling but the barring on the chest and belly is throwing me off. Thanks for any help.

A Few More Birds From Eastern Peru

Hello all, I've been going through some photos from a trip to Pucallpa, Peru in March. The first appears to be some type of thrush (Black-billed Thrush perhaps?), and I have no idea what the second is. The third photo is obviously some sort of parrot/parakeet/macaw but I'm not sure if the...

    Thailand

Hello all, Next summer (June 19-July 6) I will be heading to Thailand. Although it won't be a birding trip, I should have some time while there to look for birds. Most of the trip will be spent near Chiang Mai (northern Thailand) as well as few days in Bangkok. What birds would be expected...

Hello all, Came across these sparrows today in Oceanside, CA and believe they are all Chipping Sparrows, but still a bit uncertain. Clay-colored is a possibility here. Thanks for any help. https://www.flickr.com/photos/92988930@N06/22441699058/in/dateposted-public/...

    Southern California Tern

Hello all, Saw this tern today at a local beach in San Diego County.. Was a a bit smaller than the nearby Elegant Terns, maybe about the size of a Forster's (could be one). I'm sure the ID is obvious, but the slight sign of a crest combined with both its legs and bill being orange are...
