Question for long time Noctivid owners

The focus on my NL’s was a little stiff at first but smoothed out to perfection with use.

Question for long time Noctivid owners

If it really bothers you than I would exchange them. I didn’t notice any play in the ones I had. 8 and 10 power. Binoculars with the best focus feel for me have been Zeiss SF and NL pure.

My review of Swarovski Optik NL PURE 14x52 with video clips by Iphone

I am really enjoying my 14x52. I also still have the 10x42 NL and they make an excellent combo.

Why are Zeiss so sharp on-axis compared to other binoculars?

The 7x42 FL is excellent except for the reds looking weird. I have said this before I know but when compared side by side with the 7x42 Leica HD I prefer the color in the Leica. Everything else about this Zeiss though is awesome.

Why are Zeiss so sharp on-axis compared to other binoculars?

My 8x42 Zeiss SF had more CA then even the 10x42 EL that I compared at a birdforum members house last year. I have had both the 8 and 10 x SF and don’t agree that the SF has better CA than the NL.

Why are Zeiss so sharp on-axis compared to other binoculars?

I have the Zeiss 10x42 HT and it is sharp. I also have the 10x42NL and the sample I have is even sharper than my Zeiss. It is the sharpest of any binoculars I have ever had past or present.

    NL 12x vs 14x

I can also split Graffias at 13.7”

    NL 12x vs 14x

Yes it does. Nice clean split.

    NL 12x vs 14x

The 14 can’t and won’t replace the 10x. I get a totally relaxed view in the 10x42 that I could look through all day long. The 14 is awesome for detail but doesn’t have the ease of view that the 10x has for hand held use which is to be expected. When you need the extra detail though it’s nice to...

    NL 12x vs 14x

I don’t have the 12x anymore so can’t compare side by side. I do have the 10x42 and 14x52 NL and really like them. I have a feeder about 40 feet and am surprised how still I can hold the 14. The detail at that distance is just awesome in the 14 compared to the 10. Details in the feather’s like...

Shorebirds and big open fields + owl watching at night / NL 10x42 or 10x52 ?

A little too heavy to hold for extended time. Too bad you see glare in the NL. The 14x52 is just awesome for me.

Initial user impressions of the NL x52’s

I went out last night with them tripod mounted and was very pleased with them. Same super tight star images and high contrast with black background as in 12x but with more reach. Excellent just as I had hoped. Sky was not very transparent so can’t wait for a good night. I was able to get a...

Initial user impressions of the NL x52’s

I can actually hold the 14x as still as the 12. I think the extra length and weight make it more stable. I am usually sitting down on my porch most of the time when I am using them so that probably helps also.

Initial user impressions of the NL x52’s

All the way out and than the first click down without my glasses and all the way down with my glasses on.

Initial user impressions of the NL x52’s

Hi Andy, I will keep both pair. The 10x42 is just perfect for me for birding and the 14 is perfect for Astronomy. I was surprised how well I can hold the 14 for birds also though so that is a plus. I enjoy using both.

I enjoyed our visit as well. It was fun to compare the two binoculars.

Initial user impressions of the NL x52’s

I do not see any glare in my 10x42 or 14x52. You probably will see it though since you do in all of them

Yes I Yes. I got the forehead rest and tripod adapter.

Initial user impressions of the NL x52’s

Received my 14x52 NL today. Very nice indeed. I can actually hand hold with forehead rest no trouble at all. Just as steady as 12x42 I think due to the extra length and weight.

Initial user impressions of the NL x52’s

My big problem with Vortex ( I have had three different pair ) is synchronization of the two barrels when focusing. Also had to constantly adjust diopter.
  21. Robert Moore

Initial user impressions of the NL x52’s

Not everyone can see that glare in the NL. No way does the Vortex compare to the NL to my eyes let alone build quality. I had the 12x50 UHD and compared it to my 12x42 NL pure. Not even close. But I did so extensively a lot of nights tripod mounted looking at the sky. NL is the closest...
