    SFL 8x40 or 10x40?

Ok, if that's the pattern I think I got it 😂 thanks

    SFL 8x40 or 10x40?

Admit then, no offence, that if you had cataracts at that time you were not in the best condition to judge binoculars, especially when it comes to comparing them with binoculars tested after the operation. In any case I am glad your eyesight is fine now. Let's put aside the blue ring of death...

    SFL 8x40 or 10x40?

I am relatively new here and don't want to be rude, but I have recently read several threads about the SFL 8x40s because I think they may be the right binoculars for a future upgrade from the M7 (I will definitely have to try them out properly first, but on paper they seem perfect for my...

What did you see in your binoculars today?

Amazing experience yesterday. Unfortunately I was not able to take pictures in time, I preferred to enjoy the moment only through the binoculars. We were having dinner with a couple of friends on the small terrace by the sea of the house I mentioned in the post above. It was about 9 pm and it...

    Should I stick with M5s

You're welcome. And yes, I too believe that the M7 8x42s are the first binoculars in the price range to offer the complete package: excellent central sharpness, beautiful natural colours, smooth and quite accurate focus wheel, large and immersive fov, small but well balanced weight and...

    Should I stick with M5s

I would be curious to read a comparison between M5 and MHG, since I have never been able to try a pair of them. Anyway, my two cents. I had both M5s and M7s for a couple of weeks before I decided to keep the latter. I really liked the M5s and certainly could live with their narrow fov, but once...

What did you see in your binoculars today?

If I may, where do you live? Anyway, they are, but fortunately for us, the house is a perfect vantage point for watching birds in flight, being a few hundred feet above sea level. There is a sedentary kestrel pair that we have been seeing regularly for a couple of years now, they often fly and...

Birding in the countryside near Druento (Italy)

Last Friday I went birding with my partner in the countryside around one of the largest nature parks in Turin, the city where we live. We arrived around 6.30 p.m., me with my Monarch M7 8x42 and her with her Vortex DB HD 8x32. It was a cloudy day, with a few narrow openings in the sky, but still...

What did you see in your binoculars today?

Yesterday from the balcony of my partner's beach house on the border between Italy and France, a common kestrel hoovering against the sea a few metres away, observed with a Monarch M7 8x42: pure joy.

Eurasian hobby or Peregrine? Monferrato, Italy - 09/06/24, 11 am

I returned to the same spot and the falcon was there again. After a while he left, but I managed to observe him for a couple of minutes. It's almost certainly a red footed falcon (which had been my first option as soon as I saw it yesterday!): in fact the head is completely grey so you're right...

Eurasian hobby or Peregrine? Monferrato, Italy - 09/06/24, 11 am

Anything can be, but in this area it should not be present and judging by the wings it did not seem to be. If I can tomorrow I will try to go to the same spot, maybe it will be there again.

Eurasian hobby or Peregrine? Monferrato, Italy - 09/06/24, 11 am

I thought of that too, but the chest was like that of the hobby or the peregrine and not grey like the red-footed falcon should be. Am I missing something?

Eurasian hobby or Peregrine? Monferrato, Italy - 09/06/24, 11 am

Hello everyone. Excuse the poor quality of the photos, taken with a mobile phone through binoculars but all freehand. Today late morning birding my girlfriend and I stumbled upon what to me seems like a hobby or peregrine. Unfortunately I only managed to photograph it when it was a few tens of...

    Monarch M7 8x42 problem

A final and conclusive update on the issue. I confirm that the strange effect was due to the wrong ipd setting together with the sub-optimal position of the eyecups: with some difficulty, being a smaller binocular, but I was able to generate the same effect when observing with the vortex 8x32...

    Monarch M7 8x42 problem

Thank you, good to know. Now, since I saw that with the new ipd setting the distance between my eye and the lens has increased, I tried lowering the eyecups by one position so I can gently rest them on my eyebrows without having to press them hard to get the right eye relief and it helps. I will...

    Monarch M7 8x42 problem

In fact I feel that in terms of eyepiece size the M7s are my limit, I dare not imagine how uncomfortable larger binoculars can seem to me. Perhaps I am more one for compact or, at most, mid-size binoculars. I'll try using it for a while with this new ipd setting, see if I get used to it or not...

    Monarch M7 8x42 problem

It also happens with flowers at greater distances, even at 20-30m. Anyway, thanks for the explanation. The problem is certainly related to the ipd setting. The sad thing is that with the corrected ipd the binoculars fit poorly on my face due to the eyepieces being too large. The edge of the...

    Monarch M7 8x42 problem

Doing some tests, it seems to be related to the ipd. By reducing it, the problem seems to reduce until it disappears.

    Monarch M7 8x42 problem

Thanks for your help. In your opinion is it worth sending it to Nikon service or is it more likely to be an inherent defect in the M7 that you have to live with? Can any other M7 owners tell me if they notice the same defect?

    Monarch M7 8x42 problem

So if this is the case, is the reason why through vortex binoculars the problem does not occur because the lenses are less flat?

    Monarch M7 8x42 problem

Thank you. I have tried, but unfortunately it does not seem to resolve. Or rather, with the diopter in certain positions the problem seems to disappear or almost disappear, but the overall definition becomes very bad.

    Monarch M7 8x42 problem

Hello everyone, since January I have owned a monarch m7 8x42 with which I have so far been very happy in all respects. However, I have recently encountered a problem, perhaps already present and simply not noticed. The binoculars are very sharp and don't give me any problems when observing...

How sharp should the view be for a Nikon Monarch M5 in 8x42?

I had a Monarch M5 on trial for a while, after trying various binoculars and of all of them decided to get and keep the M7. The sharpness and focus of my sample were excellent, truly comparable not only to those of the M7, but also to other higher-end binoculars. The only real limitation I found...

Help request: some doubts about M5/M7

Yes, completely! I like them very much and for "just" 80€ difference there is no comparison for me. Yes, exactly. Two different samples of M7.

    New binoculars under 200€

Thanks for the suggestions! We haven't bought anything yet, but we are leaning towards the DB 8x32. If we manage these days we'll go to a shop and try out a few of the binoculars mentioned above, although it's difficult to find well-stocked sellers here.
