Blown away by old 7x35 10.1 field

I just picked up this pair of Japanese C. F Suprema 7x35 with 10.1 field for $15 second hand. I can't find any info on them online but I figured that they might be similar to some of the more renowned wide field 7x35's of yesteryear. For $15 I could at least give them a try and so I had them...

Poll - Trying to get some numbers on Swarovski rubber armour issues.

Swarovski writes: "Prolongation of the armouring is possible if you apply a good cleaning and treatment of it, like for instance for leather." So there is probably some foreign substances that can accelerate the breakdown of the armor (since environmental factors such as temperature and UV...

Poll - Trying to get some numbers on Swarovski rubber armour issues.

Of course an armor should withstand all sorts of use and even a great deal of abuse. In this case it obviously doesn't. I was just thinking that there might be some products you could try to avoid getting on your binoculars to prolong the life of the armor. This is the reason that I asked. Some...

Poll - Trying to get some numbers on Swarovski rubber armour issues.

Wow, that's pretty extreme degradation. I know that there is a lot of products that can cause this to rubberized materials, such as sunscreen, gun oil, deodorants and many more. Do you use any product that gets on your hands and then later ends up on your binoculars perhaps?

Is there a tripod adapter for Swaro CL Companion 8x30

I managed to find this older thread on DIY tripod mounts. It's quite easy to build one that suits your needs. It's also cheap and will add a bit of personality to your setup. I use mine mainly with a 8x30 porro. Even at 8x a tripod mount will multiply the perceived resolution by a lot. I use...

    Kite Optics Lynx HD+

My friends mom had been over today. She had picked up the Kite and looked through it. After a short glance she pulled the trigger and ordered one for herself. Later in the evening it came to light that her sister had also bought one. I can imagine the price going up on these as the rumor begins...

    Kite Optics Lynx HD+

I'm not sure but from what I've read and just from the feel of this I think it is made in Japan. Some people seem to prefer the earlier "non +" version. Although the non + version is the one that instantly got me hooked my first impression of the newer + version is that it to is pure optic...

    Kite Optics Lynx HD+

I was at a convention last year casually going through any and every binocular I could find. There were all the top models from the European brands and a lot of others, some very pricy and many cheaper models. I had never heard of Kite by that time. I lifted up the little Lynx 8x30 (gen 1. - non...

    Review: Steiner 8x22 Safari "Ultrasharp"

Maybe they did different runs as many companies do? Some yers back I bought a pair of Scarpa gore tex hiking boots that were the best I've ever had. Superb fit and great sole with good grip. Never got wet or sweaty in those. Unfortunately I put them on the woodstove in a dim lit loghouse and...

    Review: Steiner 8x22 Safari "Ultrasharp"

I am so puzzled that it's hard to where to even start. I bought a pair of second hand Steiner Wildlife PRO 8x30 porros with CF last year. The price was right and I figured that I would keep them in my car, lending them out to people with greasy fingers and little binocular experience instead of...

Help me choose a pair ~x32 binoculars?

Besides the standard suggestion when it comes to 8x30 binoculars (that would be Swarovski Habicht 8x30) I did find a real gem last year at a wildlife exhibition. Kite Optics LYNX HD 8x30 https://www.kiteoptics.com/en/hunting/product/84/lynx-hd-8x30/ Very sharp, vivid colors, high contrast...

Habicht - Military vs Standard....not quite the same.

Nice setup! :t: I've read that other thread to. I just got a bit confused about the different styles of eye cups, thought you meant winged ones. Do you fit the original swarovksi winged eye cups on the habicht?

Habicht - Military vs Standard....not quite the same.

Hi Rathaus. I was reading on another thread where you had posted about different winged eye cups that you used for swaro binoculars (OEM eye cups for swaro roofs). There you also said that you used these eye cups for other binoculars as well. Here, in this thread, you mention that one of your...

    Building a Better Binocular Mount

Another thing I thought I'd share. In my case the length of the shock cord is important to get right. Too loose and the binos will not be secured tight enough and slide around on the mount. Too tight and it is difficult to attach it to the mount, the cord will rub hard against the leatherette...

    Building a Better Binocular Mount

Hi. I updated with new shock cord. Looks a lot better in black and most important the thinner cords feel better suited for the pupose. I didn't get the one you linked to because the listing was in german. Instead I bought one from thEbay. Many shock cords are of poor quality and the spring is...

    Building a Better Binocular Mount

Habichtmount Although, very stable and functional, it is a very simple design in its core. It is just a piece of wood with some bungee cords basically. Since I had to place a few cuts in the wood I thought I would try to do the cuts so that they enhance functionality and aestethic appearance...

    Building a Better Binocular Mount

Habichtmount Hi. I thought I would share this with you. I am very happy with this little thing. I've never had a mount before so I am amazed at how the resolution really comes alive, even at "only" 8x. Another thing I have found is that I can hold the binoculars more steady freehanded when...

    Steiner 8x30 identification

Oh yes of course. They have photographed them upside down! I never though of that but now I see it. I'm pulling the trigger on these. Hopefully it's a good pair :)

    Steiner 8x30 identification

Hi. Anyone here recognize these Steiners? They are selling for about 90usd second hand. This is the only picture I can get from the seller though. They are listed as Steiner Wildlife Pro 8x30. Looking at the ridges in the rubber armor makes me a bit puzzled though. I have never seen a Steiner...

    Habicht 8x30 owners!

Prototype This is a prototype. It has black leatherette outside and black flocked insides to reduce reflection. Threaded rings in the front for use with filters. Could be interesting to try with sun filters, circular polarizers, ND..

    Help with Habicht 8x30

I can second that. I'm in Norway and although the winter has not kicked in in it's full yet we've had many nights and days below freezing. The focus wheel have loosened up some since I got them earlier this year and in normal temperatures it's not to bad. In cold temperatures when I have not...

    Habicht 8x30 owners!

I know of these and I do have them on all my rifle scopes. But they only protect your lens. They offer little or no shade.

    Habicht 8x30 owners!

How many owners of the Swarovski Habicht 8x30W are there in here and would you be interrested in sunhades to fit them? Reason I'm asking is that I see a need for sunshades to reduce glare, increase over all image quality and not least to protect the front lenses. After plowing the internet for...
