Hi All Carried out an Atlas TTV this afternoon in a forested area forming part of a vast upland forest, in a clearing of a few acres there is a smallholding and in the garden the owner has a feeding station comprising 2 birdtables and some feeders hanging in small bushes. I cannot recollect...

Managed one tetrad in the Wark forest this afternoon, deep frozen rutted snow on forestry roads wouldn't allow vehicular access to another TTV. Lovely sunny afternoon, highlights being Crossbills including males songflighting and suprising numbers of singing and squabbling Siskins, little else...

Completed 4 tetrads in the Southern Wark forest over the weekend (NY77) not a great deal though star of every tetrad had to be Crossbills, some of the males song flighting. Others included various tits especially Coal, plenty of Chaffinches a few Siskin and oddly for conifer forest a Jay? Stewart

Rooks, obviously these will have fledged when doing second count so impossible to determine number of nests occupied, consequently I thought it best to tick colony present box but not put a nest count in. Anyone any thoughts? Stewart

Yo Mike, numbers do appear to be down out here to your west. On the 3 woodland TTV's I managed to complete this week they were present but in smaller numbers than on previous visits. House Martins are also still very scarce hopefully just held up by the weather, unusual to see my first Swifts...

Completed 2 TTV's once mist cleared today, both upland sites and I would have preferred to leave them till later in month but I've limited time to complete 9 this season. Decided to do the upland ones first as most waders now on territory many still displaying as are Skylark and Mipits so much...

I've been working away for a few weeks and thought I'd enter my observations for the tetrads. Roving reports do not have a column for numbers so would it be better to add them to the Birdtrack database? Anyone have any views? Stewart
