Hi Bob, I look forward to meeting you next year too, I haven't done much birding in Mallorca this year sad to say, so I want to do more next year. I have just been admiring your Moustached Warbler photos, they're superb, a difficult bird to get close to. Must catch up with Mike again too, I've...

Thanks Stew, very intersting information. Bird and butterfly photography has been main interest till now, but I am starting to take more of an interest in dragonflies, they are fascinating insects to study.

Thanks Mike, I already have the first guide you suggested. I have great admiration for Richard Lewington's illustrations, I also have the Collins Butterfly guide, the accuracy of Lewington's illustrations are amazing.

Many Vagrant Emperors at the end of Ses Puntes track at Albufera, impossible to count, they were flying all around me. I'm a novice when it comes to dragonfly identification, but I think I found a Violet Dropwing and a Common Darter too. I was looking for Plain Tiger butterflies, and saw my...

    Mallorca 2019

At Albufera yesterday, additional to species reported by ggshrike, there were a couple of Curlew Sandpipers, 4 or 5 Little Stint and at least 9 Ringed Plovers at Cibollar I and a few Purple Herons at Sa Roca, nice to see 4 Gargany there and the Collared Pratincole.

    Mallorca 2019

There was a feldegg at Albufera in March 2017, Maties submitted the record with my photo. Perhaps Maties can comment on the frequency of records for Mallorca? There's certainly a lot of migrant activity at the moment. I just just saw a male Golden Oriole in the fig tree in front of my house - a...

    Mallorca 2019

Went to Albufera today (Thursday 11th) to see the Baillon's Crake. Spent most of the day there as it was difficult to photograph, a tiny bird always hiding in the grass, and the only time it was out in the open was close to the hide, I couldn't get my camera on it! Great to meet Steve, Phil...

3 Short-toed Larks on my local patch this morning. I see Bob Freeman has posted some superb photos of hirundines at Maristany, Hi Bob, it's a pity we didn't meet up this time. But here are a few of mine from last week. The Barn Swallow looks like an eastern sub-species, can anyone comment...

    Mallorca 2019

A Yellowhammer would be something special. The Cirl Bunting is the replacement on Mallorca, a common bird here, but I don't think I ever saw one in England where they are very local and confined to Devon I think. I was at Albufera on Friday, it's a shame I didn't go on Thursday, I might have...
