Simple DIY forhead rest using a bottle plug

That’s true and actually it’s what happened to me :). I have more on the way since I need some 40mm ones:

Pure NL the right one for me?

I would not read too much into those :). To me it sounds like some standard word salad written by the lawyer in Chinese and gets lost a little bit in the translation.

Pure NL the right one for me?

Not really going to "bodge" it :). I find that it works fine half way in between the 2nd and 3rd stop, so maybe a couple of O rings will do the trick.

Pure NL the right one for me?

Got my SRCB 10x50 today, it has a very similar field to the NL. I think it is slightly sharper at the extreme edge, but has higher CA off center compare to the NL 10x42. Indeed it does not flare like the NL! It is definitely a keeper, especially for the price I paid. The only problem I found...

Diopter wheel fell off from my Zeiss Victory Pocket

Here is a close-up photo of the wheel. There are 3 tiny tabs that will be pushed in and keep the wheel in position while it can still rotate. The female "teeth" in the center will be able to engage male "teeth" inside the bridge connected to the diopter adjusting mechanism. The male teeth move...

Pure NL the right one for me?

I've already ordered a Skyrover Cloud Banner 10x50, and should be able to get it in couple of days. People said it should be like a NL without the flare issue, and that sounds almost too good to be true. Let's see how it turns out.

Diopter wheel fell off from my Zeiss Victory Pocket

The knob could still be pushed on to adjust the diopter (it just does not stay on), so I did one final adjustment before I sealed it with the white cap. If in the future the diopter setting does drift out of position, I can easily remove the cap and reset it.

Pure NL the right one for me?

Well, after a week’s try I decided to return the NL 10x42. Initially I thought I could tolerate the flare, but in the end I can’t justify the price I paid due to such a critical flaw. I found it could be very annoying at times. Still I feel the Nikon Edg 8x32 is the most comfortable and is the...

Diopter wheel fell off from my Zeiss Victory Pocket

I carry it in my pocket with a compact neoprene bag. The knob is just a super fragile design. It is clicked in and hold by some tiny plastic tabs. It can easily break by caught on something. Yes, when it is folded, the diopter is right at the protruding corner and will be the first thing to be...

Air bubbels under rubber Zeiss Victory Pocket 8x25?

So the diopter failure seems to be quite a common problem for this model. The one on mine fell and I don't want to send it in and wait for 3 months.

Diopter wheel fell off from my Zeiss Victory Pocket

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't foresee reselling it. The diopter is the only thing I didn't like and it is now gone :). However if in the future I do end up wanting to sell it, I can send it to Zeiss for repair, or maybe I just need to order a new replacement wheel for it.

Diopter wheel fell off from my Zeiss Victory Pocket

The diopter adjustment knob of my Victory 8x25 Pocket fell off, and I wasn’t all that surprised. The diopter knob had been a constant annoyance, and I actually wished it wasn’t there, so I suppose I got exactly what I asked for. I tried gluing it back, but that didn’t work. The wheel needs to...

Simple DIY forhead rest using a bottle plug

Take me a while to figure it out ... Great PS skill :)! I have used it for more time yesterday afternoon. Seriously this works really well! It is much lighter (less than an oz) and much less bulky than the Swarovski solution. It is super comfortable too. It is also a more general solution and...

Simple DIY forhead rest using a bottle plug

I know Swarovski is going to hate me, but I have to share this :). Last couple of days, I can’t help myself from thinking about a simple idea for a forehead rest, and this is as simple as it could get I think. It works great for me and helped identifying some texts that otherwise...

Pure NL the right one for me?

Yeah, I can understand why you love the Nikon. Nikon seems to know the best when coming to the ease of eye placement. I have gone through four 8x binoculars and settled down on a Nikon 8x32 EDG II. It actually surpasses my expectations in nearly every aspects, truly amazing! I am most sensitive...

Pure NL the right one for me?

I just got myself a NL 10x42 and I can confirm the flare issue is true:). It beats my Canon 10-42 IS in every way, brighter, sharper, much smaller and lighter, a lot more easy on the eyes… but there is only one thing that the Canon wins by a mile, i.e., flare resistance. Just by looking at the...

    Hello friends

Hello, my fellow birders! As my only child graduated from college and moved away at the beginning of the year, I found myself experiencing the classic empty nest syndrome. :) My first binoculars were a Canon 10x42 IS, which I bought nearly two decades ago. However, they were only used...
