Goldeneye without white ringlet? Bavaria / Germany

Dear Alexander, thank you very much for the answer. I know the crescent-like/banana shape formation of the white spot. Via binoculars I could see the ducks much more clearly and again I could not detect any white areas (of any kind) on the beak area. I have already researched, but have not...

Goldeneye without white ringlet? Bavaria / Germany

Dear Forum Members, today I saw the two ducks on a lake in Bavaria, Germany and unfortunately I could only photograph them by hand through binoculars. I am not really getting anywhere with the identification. They look like goldeneyes, but I could not see the white ringlet at the base of the...

Larger pugmark/footprint in the Austrian alps - Beginning of October

Right. The area fits more to Rock Ptarmigan, but the footprint is in my opinion a bit too big (according to literature about 5 cm) and fits more to a Black grouse (according to literature about 6 cm and 7 cm). 🤷‍♂️

Larger pugmark/footprint in the Austrian alps - Beginning of October

Dear Forum Members, after several months I have an ID request again. While hiking in the Austrian Alps I came across a footprint of which I would like to hear your opinion. I have a suspicion, but do not say this yet. The 2-euro coin has a diameter of 2.5 centimeters. So the pugmark is...

    Black screen using iphone

Have you already found a cause of the error? Could it be related to the fact that the IPhone - however - switches to the second lens (and thus the lens with which you photograph through the eyepiece is switched off and you thus have a black screen)?

    Chicago Birding locations in June?

Hello forum friends, I will be in Chicago for work from the end of May to the end of July. Needless to say, I'll be taking my binoculars and compact spotting scope with me  I hope to make a birding trip or two on the weekends. 1) Do you have any tips for me on where to go for some good...

Monarch HG 8x42 vs Conquest HD 8x42 vs Swarovski SLC 8x42

Thank you for the answer. I have not yet come up with the idea. I use the binoculars without glasses. But now that you said it, I notice that I always put the binoculars quite high up (from below I "press" the upper edge of the eyepiece to the top edge of the eye socket (I don't know if this...

Monarch HG 8x42 vs Conquest HD 8x42 vs Swarovski SLC 8x42

Looking for an upgrade (looking for an 8x42 up to about 1000 Euro) from my Nikon Prostaff 7s 8x30, I finally - and yes, I really searched a long time to find a suitable one - got stuck with the Nikon Monarch HG 8x42. The Nikon Monarch HG 8x42 won out over the following (in 8x40/42/44...

    Best sub £1000 10x42 binocular

You might try the Meopta Meostar B1 10x42 HD or the newer Meopta Meostar B1 Plus 10x42 HD, which are also in the 1,000 class.

    Monarch M7

Everything of course :). No, just wondering if the optical quality of the Meopro Air is more comparable with the M7 or MHG. I am thinking of buying one (M7 or Meopro Air).

    Monarch M7

Has anyone compared the Monarch M7 to a Meopta Meopro Air 10x42 yet? How do you rate the quality?

A movie for all nature lovers and wildlife observers.

Not to forget that the music is made by Nick Cave & Waren Ellis 👍 PS: At least in the trailer you can see people using binocluars/spotting scopes, so the binoculars forum fits quite well ;)

    The way to MY binocular

What is with the new Nikon Monarch 7 8/10x42. According to other users in the Nikon subforum, it should has the same specs (and so the same optical quality) as the Nikon MHG but is cheaper. Another idea could be the Meopro Air or Meostar from Meopta. If you want to try a Kite you can also...

Recommendation for light and compact scope setup

I was faced with the same decision three years ago and wanted to buy a compact spotting scope. Finally, after a long search, I bought a second-hand Nikon ED50 with the 13x-40x zoom eyepiece. I am still very satisfied with it and also take it with me on trips. The quality of the zoom eyepiece is...

    I cannot See China bins!

Sorry, but I can't let your statement stand without proof. Of course, you can assume that the majority of Steiner entry-level products are partly pre-manufactured/pre-assembled abroad/China(?). However, there are several videos (also current ones from 2018 - 2020, see Youtube) and...

Who uses the Steiner Wildlife 8x42?

Hello all, looking for a new pair of binoculars in the 8x40-44 class in the price range of about EUR 500-1000/pound 430-800 I became aware - as an alternative to the well known in this price range Nikon Monarch HG, Leica Trinovid HD etc. - of the Steiner Wildlife 8x42 (Link Steiner Homepage)...

    Value sweet spot?

I was also interested in this, so I simply asked Steiner Germany about it. According to their statement, all their binoculars are "made in Germany", i.e. e.g. lenses are manufactured and polished here and the individual parts are assembled and tested. However, individual parts such as the body...

    Value sweet spot?

Would you still recommend the Discovery XP/Peregrine XP 8x44/10x44 today or would you call them obsolete? I know that these types have been replaced by the Wildlife XP since about 2015(?), but there are still a few new ones here in Germany for the price of about EUR 750 - 800/Pounds 650 - 700...

    Value sweet spot?

Without citing a source, how can you be so sure that the binoculars are certainly not made in Germany? According to Steiner's FAQ, all binoculars are made in Germany: https://www.steiner-optics.com/faqs @Sterngucker

    case for Nikon Monarch 82A

Hey Steve, If you are still searching for a stay on case for the Nikon ED82 you may try to contact Nikon directly. Some of the Nikon repair centres/service points which exist in different countries have these cases still on stock. Best, Matthias

    Songbird Song ID - Deutschland

Hi, guys, I would need your assessment of the following voice messages (recorded in May 2020, Germany). I will write my tip on this. Thank you very much in advance. Matthias Nr. 1 - Dunnock or Robin? Nr. 2 - Song thrush or Mistle thrush Nr. 3&4 - Is there more to hear than the Eurasian reed...
