Binoculars mounted on tripods. What is the use?

This maybe? https://www.keele.ac.uk/observatory/history/binoculars/ If so can congratulate yourself it went to a good home and maybe helped provide inspiration to several generations of students (y).

    Nikon se 10x42

Think Hermann already guessed you don't read books. How about making an offer on something like this? Make sure you get one to match your type...well past its sell-by date. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115991327437

Are two binoculars better than one?

Are you sure you've done all possible research on ways of alleviating this? Quite a few threads here on BF on different ways of carrying binoculars which might help including bandolero style, harnesses, attaching straps to backpack, attaching helium balloons (just checking you're still...

    Orange binos

Timeless sartorial elegance. OK so I cheated a bit on the binocular colour which was originally more tan :sneaky:. Photos from these links : https://www.acap.aq/latest-news/obituary-chandler-robbins-the-ornithologist-who-banded-wisdom-the-world-s-oldest-known-albatross...

Universal Forehead Rest for Zeiss SFL or other Binoculars.

My immediate thought was that providing abrasive soap might be an environmentally friendly way to avoid a (or several) returns of the product to customer service.

Made me think of this old confectionary advert in the UK; probably would be considered too indelicate today :

    Optolyth 9x63 vintage, strange looking

So maybe there existed multiple non-armoured versions of the AK models Gijs listed here? https://www.birdforum.net/threads/optolyth-binoculars.365045/#post-3760369 Looks like this Bulgarian retailer sold a similar 8x56 (three quarters down page) : https://binokli.alle.bg/germany/optolyth/

    Which binoculars?

Well found, thanks (y). Do the videos not work any more or is that me just being inept? It does look extremely likely that is the "opaque" binocular Tony Soper refers to. Wonder if he kept it. Apparently this is a Peter Scott binocular ...

    Which binoculars?

Yep, from that angle could equally be a Ross Stepsun perhaps borrowed from the collection of Peter Scott :). Wonder if anyone knows if the extensive video interview with Tony Soper RIP is still available online. Would like to be able to watch again. Found his account there of the abortive...

UK binocular deals, special offers and bargains

Opticron Verano BGA VHD 8x models, having been discontinued it seems, now available at half retail from a number of retailers (eg. SWOptics and Opticswarehouse). If interested might want to check Steve C's reviews on this site; was very keen on 8x32 but encountered too much eye relief/too short...

    Vortex Bantam... real-world use

Putting this into Google should find the report : Vortex Bantam site:houseofoutdoor.com Off topic, has probably already been suggested that the GPO passion SD model in that report looks a lot like the Bynolyt Seagull ED model that was earlier investigated by Houseofoutdoor. In the UK we also...

UK binocular deals, special offers and bargains

Nikon HG 10x42 at Vikingopticalcentres looks like decent deal (anything warranting "bargain" status seems to disappear in blink of eye these days). Nice eye relief for a spectacle user and a free workout every time raise them to your eyes. Armour looks in good nick.

Used Bresser Pirsch 8X56 Ed quite cheap at CashConverters. Not sure if is up to scratch; or should I say... OpticsWarehouse has deals on Zerotech (Australian company?) bincoulars. Bins with longer eye relief

Have vague recollection that Vanguard Endeavour models are supposed to be quite generous for eye relief : https://www.amazon.com/s?k=vanguard+8x42&crid=2TIQ2DQTG3P3T&sprefix=vanguard+8x4%2Caps%2C203&ref=nb_sb_noss_2 Yep. Just checked Canip/Pinac's site and even the 10x42 IV does jolly well ...

Hi I was doing some research on a pair of old pair of binoculars that was owned by my grandfather and it directed me to this site.

    Hello, i have some questions.

Sure I guess a bit of "comedic licence" came into play (he's not a real binocular reviewer, he's a very naughty boy). Seems he lied about doing the endurance tests too though he may have been on target about the "plaid-clad sportsman in a canoe" who apparently has a deer for company ...
