    I found a few of these flies attached to a tree trunk today. All had been infected, can anybody give any info as to what has caused this. I have retained this specimen for further examination.

    Mycena for ID Please

    Hi all, I found these two bonnets yesterday. The most noteworthy features were a furry base to the stem and a strong smell of Iodine (I think?) Gills are white, smooth edged and adnate. One gave a very thick, white spore print. Anybody any ideas? Charlie.

    Hi all, I found a couple of clumps of these corals this week in W. Yorkshire. They were growing in the soil near to deciduous trees - anybody any ideas?

    Hi Nick, I should know by now that any fungi-like object that has me puzzled usually turns out to be an undentifiable slime mould. Although to be fair you have narrowed it down a fair bit. Many thanks as always.

    I found these growing on moss yesterday in West Yorkshire. There were dozens of them all around 0.5mm or less and seem to be releasing plenty of dark spores. Does anybody know they are? Thanks for looking. Charlie.

    I'm not sure to be honest, they've gone past their best now. I think I need a book on mycenas, I get fed up of constantly finding them and not knowing what they are - oh, and a microscope as well. Thanks anyway Dave.

    Hi all, I found quite a few of these yesterday all growing on old Larch cones. I'm assuming the are unidentifiable bonnets. All I have to go on is that the spore print is white and the stems are dark at the base and whitish at the apex. Any thoughts? Thanks for looking. Charlie.

    Hi again, I'll try and investigate further, I'm guessing there aren't that many tremella species in the UK that feed on lichens that look like mine........but I may be wrong :-)

    Hi Nick, Wow! a whole lot going on in that piece of jelly, I didn't realise some fungi are lichen parasites! Thanks for your comments on the "ash" fungi, I'll keep an eye for other species next time I see the remains of bonfires etc. Cheers, Charlie.

    "Jelly fungi" growing on lichens or stone for ID

    Hi all, this apparent jelly fungi or jellydisc was found yesterday and had us all puzzled. We assumed it was growing on lichens on a drystone wall. It is 18mm across and I have retained the sample. Anyone any ideas? Charlie.

    Hi all, I found three of these growing in what looked like the ash content of a woodburning stove. They were buff or a little darker and 8mm across. I am letting them mature inside. Any ideas?

    Hi all, I found a group of these corals today on upland heath. The colour was very pale brown, almost white. Stem 10mm and branches 25mm. I did collect a sample. Anybody any ideas? Charlie in West Yorkshire.

    Larva for ID please.

    Does anybody have any idea which species this is? It's feeding on Honeysuckle and is 45mm long. Even down to genus level would be useful.
