Possible Golden Eagle. Today on Skye (Scotland)

In cases of doubt , the translucent tail feathers rule out GE.

    Sea Eagle attacking a Heron

Curlew Sandpiper s.p. still around, with ringed plovers. There is also a group of at least 40 Dunlin moving around from island to island, with a LIttle Stint tagging along.

Double woo-hoo! Stint species (appears to lack rufous tones and have breast-band, but moving and can't be positive)

Lots of waders yesterday and today. Flocks of Ringed Plovers (in which I identified 2 each of Ringed and Little Ringed) & Dunlins. Plenty of Common Sandpiper and still the odd Green. Also Yellow Wagtails and White Wagtails. And an escaped Bar-headed Goose.

    Unusual (?) Osprey display.

Well 'making Google' gets you other people's opinions of what they have seen. I am here trying to work out if what I am told is happening isn't really something else. Several things militate against its being mere foot-washing. 1) the presence of the other Osprey. 2) the fact that when the bird...

    Unusual (?) Osprey display.

A video from 16/04/21 of one of the Ospreys at Urdaibai Bird Center apparently displaying to the other of the pair by a 'trailing legs in the water display'. Not something I've heard of or seen before (though I am not an Osprey expert as such), or is it as the title suggests really just...

White Wagtail (wagtails are difficult to 'freeze' as they rarely sit still):

Yellwo Wagtail, a welcome splash of colour, me being stuck mostly indoors in horrible cold winds for 2 weeks.

Currently 4 Little Ringed Plover behind the Greenshanks on the L side of Green Sand Island. Also one or two White Wagtail on Webcam Island (from above) every so often in the last couple of days. Still one Ruff giving good veiws and a Dunlin. Green Sandpipers have declined a bit.

Another LIVE feed Osprey cam from 2021-04-08

At the Urdaibai Bird Center near Bilbao from tomorrow:

    French Alps 7 April

I've taken the liberty of cropping and lightening the picture. No colour adjustment was employed. It looks like a Merlin, with its head turned back to the left but it's not as sharp as it might be. For what it's worth, then.

A live Osprey webcam has now been added to the lagoon and feeder cams here and it appears that it will go online in about 19 hours from now as I post: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBeIuQX299e1MxFuSszHxtQ

The Pipit is back. I'm not that good on Pipits even when I can see them properly:

    Urdaibai Reserve Basque Coiuntry, Spain

Up to 20 Green Sandpiper today all currently on Green Sand Island, I couldn't spot any obvious Commons among them, though some spent most the time hunched up obscuring some features (colours seemed mostly the same). Also one greyish pipit too far away to ID properly, possibly Water.

Several bird of prey species have been seen from the Center which I hope might show up over or near to the lagoon, though because of the distances they might be difficult to see properly. I can imagine Black Kites, for instance, coming down to water (they occasionally fish).

Female Marsh Harrier attack dives, and two mins later the male (note pale tail) rises from a nearby clump.
